I looked online at shops when my car started acting up, and saw groovy had some complaints, but I live in the area and my car died..so I had it taken to Groovy. I am SO GLAD I did! They were AWESOME!The guys were all friendly, they repaired my car fast, at a fair price, and it is running better than ever. I will never go anywhere else. Thanks Groovy mechanics!

For those who say they do not overcharge, they did not inform me that something would require an extra charge and then charged me a fee for about half as much as what I was already paying for - a $40 fee to check if my car battery was dead or not. Use some common sense, go somewhere else! They also called me a liar for saying I was not informed when I was simply not informed!

There are few things worse than having to spend a few hundred dollars you've worked hard to save up on a car problem that's unexpected and beyond your control. One of those things is learning after the fact that you were overcharged. In this case, there were some problems with my brakes that I paid about $500 to Groovy Automotive this weekend to have fixed. I've since learned from 4 different people who are more knowledgeable about cars than I that there is no way a problem with brakes should ever cost that much. I was recommended Groovy Automotive by my boyfriend who feels he's always received good service and reasonable prices from them which, combined with the other reviews I've read about them has me convinced that Groovy Automotive feels that women, on account of their being women, deserve to pay more for car repairs than men. I know this isn't surprising for an automotive repair place, but it's still damned infuriating."

I was told by a certain mechanic at another place that it would cost over $1200 to fix my Isuzu....it was just DOA. A friend highly recommended Groovy, so I took the plunge & had my car towed there. They fixed it for about $250 and did it in record time. They also would call to let me know what they were doing, why they were doing it, and how much it would cost!

(hook em horns!) i love how they are upfront about estimates here, and they always do their best to save you money. also, i like groovy lube, where they do oil changes a few blocks away on lamar.

Don't let the hippy drippy name and decorations fool you, these people know what they're doing. I've gone to them for everything from a simply inspection to a miss-firing cylinder and every time I've gotten the same outstanding service. A clear diagnosis with a complete description about what can be done. They don't try and sell you everything under the sun here either. They'll tell you exactly what needs to be done, what can wait, and what the consequences of your decisions will be. If you've been burned by one or two dishonest mechanics in the past (lord knows I have) give these guys a try.

I've taken both my and my husband's cars here and they have done a great job. They have gotten to the heart of the matter quickly - even once offering me a solution that cost a lot less than the original diagnostic. Plus, the atmosphere is so Austin that you feel right at home.
