There was one friendly person in the whole place- a nice lady with blond hair in a ponytail. Everyone else treated me like a number, not a customer they wanted to keep. I just moved here and am shopping for a vet, and took my dog here. Not only did they inexplicably take my dog to the back for shots, instead of doing them right in front of me as I am accustomed to, but I heard him whining a lot, and when I opened the door between the room I was in and where they were administering the shots, the vet said, very rudely, "You can wait in your room." Now I was all the way in my room and was only looking in to see what my pup was so upset about. And again she said "You can wait in your room!" The place is unattractive to boot, and the staff, save one nice woman, is abysmal. Avoid at all costs.

During my last couple of years in Atlanta I took my cats to Briarcliff Animal Clinic. I was quite impressed with the facility, as well as the veterinarians and the technicians who work there. The clinic was always clean and the staff highly professional. They always seemed to find an open appointment for me on short notice, even the highly sought after Saturday appointments. One of the staff even provided pet sitting services for me when I went out of town on short notice...my cats certainly appreciated getting to stay at home rather than being boarded. Thanks Briarcliff Animal Clinic!

The IKEA store is huge! But it is so much fun to shop there, and a great place for bargains. I love the simplicity of most of IKEA's designs. I bought a 5-shelf bookcase for $19.95, put it together myself in less than an hour, and it's perfect. I got two chairs for under $30! They have a good cafeteria, and it's a wonderful place to take kids, because they are encouraged to play all over the store.

Mathew's Furniture Galleries does have a wide selection of decorative item but over price for most people. Most items had no practical purpose and are good for wall covering and filling extra space. Also, if some had to be ordered, the delivery time was long time, even for common and simple pieces. Over all, a variety of beautiful items but get ready to spend a little extra

I had a hard time ordering a home warranty through this company. It seemed really difficult to get them to fax the confirmation to the closing attorneys office and I had to call them multiple times. I'm not sure how they do on service calls since I haven't had to use them yet, but if their customer service is the same as for ordering their product, I'd probably go elsewhere.

This place is a treasure in the middle of the city. A friend turned me on to Hastings first as a place to take my 2 year old as an activity. At first I was a little hesitant but found she was right. They have free popcorn, birds, ponds w/ fish and turtles and a train track with little village for the kids. That being said, they also have an incredibly knowledgeable staff who can help you with gardening questions and offer suggestions for plant needs. I think their plants are of unparalleled quality and have never been unhappy with the results I have gotten from their plants. The prices are a little higher than your Lowes or Home Depot but are worth it.

Baby Products has a great selection with actually reasonable prices for those of us that don't want to spend a fortune on our little darlings. Better quality than I saw @ the big chains too. While I really liked the sales people, found them helpful, we did have a huge problem with the furniture we ordered going on back-order and then being cancelled. Baby Products kept us in the loop and did a great job finding a replacement, but it did take six months. Our child was four months old before we had a changing table! They tried hard and did give us a gift card as a consolation.

This is a great hardware store if there is a woodworker in your life. Perfect place for gifts for the do-it yourselfer or gardner. Great little building right in Virginia Highlands. The staff is very helpful and even special ordered some furniture polish for me. They aren't cheap, but they also have a great gift certificate program and catalog so your loved ones can make a wish list.

Forsyth Fabrics is basically a warehouse full of hundreds of bolts of decorator fabrics. You can find any fabric here. The prices are generally very good, with selections in any price range. The trim department is very good as well. You can take samples home for free. The service here is mediocre. There isn't much help here so you have to kind of figure things out as you go or have a great idea as to what you are looking for. The fabrics are arranged by color.
