The no-frills-named Video Store on the south end of Little Five Points has a great selection, including all of the latest releases in independent and foreign films, obscure documentaries and classic cult films. But it suffers from the classic indie rental store conundrum: huge selection, nothing ever in. It’s probably a sign that they have a large and loyal customer base, but why can’t they just buy a couple of extra copies of each $20 DVD? It’s not like they wouldn’t be rented. I tried to be loyal to my friendly neighborhood indie rental store, but time after time found myself leaving disgusted and empty handed, headed for Blockbuster.
