We love Candler Golf Course. We both learned to golf there and have fond memories of it. It is a very inexpensive (Atlanta residents as well as students can get a discount from the already very reasonable fee) and you'll often find students from area schools there. Great place to learn and not feel so intimidated. 9 high course. You can rent pull carts at the club house that also sells limited drinks/candy and hats/shirts. Love it but I can see it is not the course for everyone.

And old 9 hole course, This is the place you go when you've got an hour or two to burn. You actually tee off over a sewer grate on one of the holes. This course is sometimes on the honor system. Leave your $7 under the door of the clubhouse and play along. I believe there is a discount for Atlanta residents. It's a fun, casual place, perfect for kids or anyone at all to learn a bit.
