Having been around almost 15 years, South City Kitchen has had time to get it right - and right, they do! Fried green tomatoes, she-crab soup, crab hash, buttermilk-fried chicken, pulled pork and pecan crusted trout are consistently cooked to perfection. Although service can be scarce when business is brisk, we've always been happy.

South City Kitchen has a new location - in the Smyrna/Vinings area - on the corner of Atlanta Road and Cumberland Parkway. The decor is very chic in this new location, but casual at the same time. I highly recommend the shrimp, scallops, and grits (yes, you can get all shrimp or all scallops on request) and the shrimp corn dogs as an appetizer. South City Kitchen is my pick for a nice dinner in the Smyrna/Vinings area! Tip: It is my experience that you must have reservations for dinner on the weekend - even for a party of 2.

This is a good place to take a client for lunch or something. It has a different aray of foods that are Southern with a twist. More upscale that I would have originally presumed, but the food was all in all pretty tasty. Cresent Avenue is a really trendy area of Midtown so make sure and check it out if you have the opportunity.

Despite the creative touches that make the menu a fun read, the best dishes here are the simplest. Buttermilk fried chicken is honest food--crispy skin and moist meat get extra support from homey bourbon gravy. Servers are earnest, but can disappear for long stretches when they're slammed.
A real treat!
