I've been to two shows at Actor's Express (Killer Joe('04) and Bug('05)) and I've been more than impressed with the performances and stage setup.
The theater is relatively small, which is great (assuming you call ahead and reserve tickets). Even if you are sitting in the back, you still have a great view of the meticulously designed stage.
They serve wine (~$4), beer (~$4), coffee (~$1.50) and snacks before the show and during the intermission.
Gather some friends and I highly recommend this theater company.

This was one really fun experience for me! If you go with the right attitude and don't worry about feeling silly, this is the right place to go. The food may not be 5 Star but it was better then cooking a meal, and cleaning. It was uber fun for us. We are going again, just looking for coupons to cut the cost a bit.

More
Part of the Woodruff Arts Center, the Alliance Theatre has three stages - the Alliance Stage (which can seat 800), the Hertz Theatre (which can accommodate 200) and the 14th Street Playhouse, which hosts the children's theatre - and presents everything from Shakespeare to the latest Broadway and off-Broadway hits. As for my first impression of how it looks, I would say the Alliance is one of the most architecturally modern theaters in Atlanta. Since it's located in the heart of Atlanta, an evening at the Alliance is perfect after a day of shopping or before a night on the town.
Most recently, we saw Moonlight and Magnolias, a hilarious play based on the writing of the script for Gone with the Wind and have already reserved our tickets for A Christmas Carol.

More
The Ansley Park Playhouse is located in the Peachtree Pointe Building in Atlanta. This playhouse is home the the hilarious play "Peachtree Battle", one of Atlanta's longest running and most successful plays. Peachtree Battle gives us a glimpse into the lives of the dysfuntional members of the Habersham family. You will grow to love the alcoholic grandmother, the heartless mother, the cheating father, the anorexic daughter, the gay son, and the other son who is about to marry a Hooter's girl. The show is a delight - I highly recommend it!

The APEX Museum presents the African American Panoramic Experience and helps people better understand what life has been like for black people in Atlanta. It recreates the Yates and Milton Drug Store, which was one of Atlanta's first Black owned businesses. You can hear taped recordings of people talking about their personal experiences, see various memorabilia and photographs and view multimedia presentations. It's very educational, interesting and well presented. And all at the bargain rate of only $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and students and children under 4 years old and members are FREE!

There's really nothing quite like a night at the ballet - the elegance, the grace, the excitement. Although I love Georgia Ballet, Atlanta Ballet reigns supreme. Begun 75 years ago as the Dorothy Alexander Concert Group, they've had plenty of time to get it perfect. It is the oldest professional dance company in America. I've been lucky enough to attend at least one performance given by Atlanta Ballet since I was young. In that time, I've been lucky enough to have seen shows such as Romeo and Juliet, The Nutty Nutcracker, Dracula, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Gwinnett Interlude, The Indigo Girls Project and, of course, The Nutcracker Suite. Although these performances include a variety of styles and genres, each one was excellent and performed with perfect.
The Centre for Dance Education is also an important part of Atlanta Ballet. The Centre offers classes for children as young as four, an acclaimed pre-professional division and a variety of exciting dance classes ranging from modern and jazz to swing and hip-hop.

More
Perhaps unbeknownest to residents of Atlanta, the Atlanta Ballet offers dance lessons catering to all levels. Classes are offered at their West Peachtree location, as well as on Roswell Rd. I've taken the ballet and the hip-hop classes. For a beginner like me, the classes did not seem overwhelming. I really enjoyed going to ballet, especially with the pianist playing live pieces. The hip-hop is great for a workout, and by the end of the class, you have a routine to show off.
Classes are about $13 each, with a discount when you buy a 10 class card.

More
The Atlanta Botanical Garden is one of the greatest botanical gardens I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. I've been on multiple occassions and it is always a delight. The display of pitcher plants is absolutely fabulous, as is the orchid house. The hothouse part of the garden is nice, but the extensive outdoor grounds are just as spectacular. Feel like you're walking though a Jane Austen novel as you stroll through the more formal gardens, or roam through the Asian-inspired gardens. There are also less formal green areas. It's a great place to visit and I hgihly recommend it.
