When it comes to a hairdresser, I don't frequently change but during spring 2008, I was in a BAD hair phase and desparately needed a change. My best friend had already convinced my Mom to try Greg Harris so I decided to take the plunge. Greg was able to immediately enhance my hair color - I don't just mean to cover the grey but make my normal brown have a deeper and richer color. He also put me on a path to "fix" my current cut. Throughout this grow out phase, he always helped me with styling tips, etc so that I never felt like I was in a phase. Finally, he told me about the Keratin Protein treatment. I have thick hair that has become more frizzy and unruly with age (yikes). Since I color my hair, I did not want to try an chemical straightening processes so the Keratin treatment was a good fit. I could NOT believe the difference that it made in my hair. I could style with ease in the morning and at the end of a humid Atlanta day, it would still be smooth. I am a convert to this treatment and a devoted client to Greg Harris! In addition, I love the salon - it is a mix of personalities and clients so I always have fun.

I am a native Atlantan, and I have been to many, many salons and people all over the city and suburbs since I was a child. About 9 or 10 years ago I was given Richie's name. I was nervous as usual at first. As soon as I walked into the door of his salon I was put at ease. Everyone was extremely friendly and eager to make me comfortable. My happiness began when I sat in Richie' s chair. We talked about my hair first and he wanted detail of me and what I like. That was the best haircut I have ever had. I recieved many, many compliments. Which in the past people wouldn't notice. I continued to go to Richie for about a year or 2. Then for a dumb reason I stopped. I live in Alpharetta, GA and to go to Buckhead from my home is a pain. And the price was a little high. Having 2 small kids and hard to get time away to get a haircut took over. Well after going to almost every salon in Alpharetta/ Roswell area and no one could cut my hair good. It never did right. I just couldn't take it any longer. So YES........back to Richie I went this year "09. BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE!!!! Again Richie gave me the best haircut ever!!!!! And I get more compliments than anyone could imagine. Even from the little profile picture on my FB page, friends were complimenting me on what a GREAT HAIRCUT. Not only do I love going to see Richie and all who work there, but my outlook and personality shines, all because I have a great cut. Even after my long span of absence from Richie, he was great and delighted to see me. It was like I was never gone. You know your hair looks great when your husband calls your hairstylist to thank him and tell him how much he loves his wife's haircut!!! Yes, my husband did call Richie and raved about how great he made me look. IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THAT!!! Pros: hair looks great, and I get tons of compliments Cons: far from my home

Roberta has been my hair stylist for almost a quarter of a century. She is professional, talented, and knowledgeable about all types of hair, and in all of these years, she has NEVER one single time had to cancel an appointment. She is just as conscientious as she can be, and when you are sitting in her chair, you really do get her undivided attention. If you are looking for someone, who has years of experience, and who truly, truly, truly knows her trade, then you need not look one bit further, because you have found your stylist. Pros: Her clients are made to feel very special Cons: Not one single thing!

Even when I lived in Ohio I would travel to Atlanta just to have Greg cut and color my hair. No matter what the style, it always looks great and is easy to manage. I trust Greg implicitly. He always gives me great advice. More often than not, I just tell him to cut and color as he thinks best. I love having one thing in my life over which I don't have to fret. Pros: Wonderful stylist, amazing colorist Cons: none

When I went to Diana for the first time, my hair had been completely destroyed by an overzealous, recent pmts grad. The highlights left it fried and it had been "texturized" beyond all recognition. After 2 months of painstaking grow-out, I went to Diana and my hair was transformed into, a chic, polished bob. She also restored my blond to a fab champagne tone, not at all reminiscent of the yellow highlighter tone I came in with. As a makeup artist, I am hard to please, especially when it comes to color, but I have been so thrilled with Diana and her work. I would (and do) highly recommend her to anyone who is tired of mediocre, unprofessional stylists. Pros: Best cut and color Cons: Buckhead traffic (deal with it)

I will never attend this salon again mainly because of the horrible customer service I received from the receptionist and stylist there. When I called for the appointment, the receptionist was incredible rude and short with me. She didn't deliver a welcoming line, such as "welcome to so-and-so salon, how can I help you today" she just said "Richie Aprino salon" in a way that was tense, trite, and offense. You could tell she did not want me or herself to be there. She did not tell me who my appointment was with and ask if there was anything else she could help me with. Instead, she quickly hung up the phone on me and I had to call back for the most basic information! When I arrived at the salon, she also did not welcome me to the salon or offer me any sort of assistance or if I needed anything to make my first-time visit more comfortable such as a drink. She looked at me as if I was a burden on her. Karen also did not mention that the deep-conditioning treatment and toner would cost an additional $25 dollars to my service which is ridiculous because I receive those for free at other salons so I was forcecd to pay for that. I think the toner actually made my hair darker and she did not tell me it would and I hate dark blonde hair! I did get a good haircut, but she critized my previous one. When I paid, the receptinoist double-charged me on my credit card bill and was not apologetic, didn't accept responsibilty, and blamed it on the poor credit card machine they have (well, if the machine is so messed up you should get a new one). Instead, she almost yelled at me for telling her I was not happy about that. When I called the salon a few days later telling her the second charge she did not go away on my bank statement, she did not bother to apologize and made excuses and quickly hung up on me again. This was a $100 dollar charge. As a result, my debit card was in the negatives so I could not charge anything on it for a few days and I needed to make errands and it delayed me in doing so. I am starting a blog on Atlanta salons, and I will for sure mention this horrible experience and lack of customer service. If you want to feel relaxed and pampered, do not attend this one. I am surprised the owner has done so many celebrities because the salon is pretty poor in my opinion. If I was a celebrity or not, I would not return here. The owner needs to get rid of the lady at the front desk ASAP because customers can get offended by that and not return. I think I should get a refund for my visit. Greg is GREAT at cutting hair, but most of all, he is a great communicator! His number one goal is to make sure he gives you what you want. He will take the time to figure out what you are going for and has the ability and confidence to pull it off. I had been bouncing between stylists and was having such a hard time committing to someone. Someone would seem great at first, but they would taper off and become inconsistent or not listen at all! Every time I go to Greg, I leave feeling completely satisfied and like I got what I wanted. He doesn't judge you at ALL. Sometimes stylists make you feel like you have to get some rock star funky cut to be interesting; Greg could care less about that! He has the perfect balance of finding out what you want, but also has a natural sense of what cut works for you. It is obvious that Greg is a confident and experienced hairstylist, and best of all he's HONEST!

I recently went from long hair to VERY short hair due to damage from the worst cut and color I have ever had from a stylist at Aura Hair and Makeup in Roswell, Georgia. I have been in search of a hair stylist that could make me look hip with my new short locks. Not only did Richie rock my hair and I walked out of the salon looking like I stepped out of a magazine but it was the most friendly and comfortable salon environment I have ever experienced! I can assure you that I will never trust my hair to anyone else. Now I understand why Richie Arpino Salon was voted "Best Haircut In Atlanta" by Allure Magazine and celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Darryl Hannah, Brooke Shields, Jennifer Tilly, Melissa Ethridge, Carol Alt, Lesley Ann Warren, Queen Noor of Jordan, Nikki Taylor, Andie McDowell, Helena Bonham Carter, Kevin Costner, and the rock group Collective Soul have all entrusted their individual "looks" into the capable hands of RAS. One visit to this salon and I bet you will be hooked too! Pros: Best haircut in town Cons: none!

I've been in Australia studying for the past few months and have refused to let anyone touch my highlights until I returned home to Atlanta. After an appointment with Greg yesterday, the wait was well worth it. My hair color looks beautiful and I could not be more pleased. Greg is definitely a gifted stylist who never disappoints. Even my father, who rarely notices these types of things, complimented me on my hair yesterday. Obviously, Greg is very talented and fun making my appointments at Richie Arpino’s always a very a pleasant experience!! Pros: Amazing highlights Cons: None!
