I don’t travel into Queens very often, so when I do, it’s got to be for a good reason, and the beer garden definitely meets these qualifications. This place is basically a large open, fenced in, outdoor space with lots of picnic tables. In the summer, the place is packed, and it is lots of fun. They have all sorts of beers, and apparently they have other forms of alcohol too, but no one really orders them (a friend of mine ordered a glass of wine and got strange looks as she carried the glass from the bar to the table). I definitely recommend this place if you like beer and a fun, social atmosphere!

One of the few places in Queens you can entice your Manhattanite friends to visit. It’s the last outdoor beer hall in New York City. The space is unique, with a large park-like feel, plenty of trees and picnic tables, and a casual—I can’t believe this is NYC—vibe. A tasty selection of beers (I like the Pilsner Urquell), and though I’ve never sampled it, a full Czech dinner menu. It’s the perfect place for a low-key summer night.
