I only wish we could have stayed longer than 4 days!! Watching the sun set over the mountains from the outdoor heated porch was an experience not to be missed...especially with an Irish coffee in hand.
The restaurant, I believe it is called Chops, was magnificent. Steaks were great, veggies were crisp and well prepared.
Our suite was spacious, and very comfortable for 4 of us.
The spa is absolutely breathtaking. The grotto is very unique, and the fact that the mineral pools have the music piped under the water so you can hear it as you float is just a perfect added touch. Definitely try the contrast baths...it will wake you up like absolutely nothing else!

Salsa's is a great Mexican Caribbean restaurant located in downtown Asheville. They offer unique combinations that are not for the faint of heart. My husband and I visited this restaurant on an anniversary trip to Asheville. He is a very picky eater, so I wasn't sure that he would like the unique cuisine at Salsa's (like salsa made with pumpkin seeds). He ordered the quesadilla, and even though what they served him did not remotely resemble a quesadilla he loved them. Salsa's is truly a great place to get a feel for the unique city of Asheville.

Friends of ours recommended Salsa's in Asheville during our visit to the Carolinas. We did not get there until minutes before the 3 p.m. lunch closing time. There was another couple also wanting to dine there per their friends' recommendations as well.
The staff said they would be closing but because we had come from afar, agreed to stay open to serve us. What a treat as the food was so worth it - healthy, tasty, veggie and non veggie options.
I had the Veggie Plato which had enough food for 2 people and my husband had the Salmon Quesadillas. My dish had a tamale, lots of sauteed veggies, avocado with green salsa, black beans, salad, sweet potato, grilled tofu with cheese and all topped with a delicious sauce. The salmon quesadilla had fillet size pieces and not just a few flakes of fish, as one would expect. It came on top of a pile of veggies and beans and was simply delicious. The plates were stacked high in beautiful presentations.
The couple who also dined there were quite happy they stayed open - they had an appetizer and shared the salmon quesadilla.
Great service, tasty delicious food at very reasonable prices.
There are lots of interesting restaurants in Asheville, but definitely eat at Salsa's!
Pros: Delicious food, very good service, organic healthy, veggie and non veggie entrees
Cons: Can't think of any, it is a "cafe" decor

My husband and I ate at Tupelo Honey for the first time 2 weeks ago. It was a weekend morning and they were busy so we had to wait for a table. We were ushered to the back of the restaurant where there was a sitting area with complimentary coffee. Very nice! Brunch was delicious! I had an appetizer which was too big to finish. It was several slices of fried green tomatoes on top of a bed of the best cheese grits I've ever had. The dish was topped with chiffonaded fresh basil and came with a garnish of pickled okra. I also ordered the biscuits (wow!) and their homemade apple butter. The biscuits came with a tasty raspberry jam as well. My husband had a mug of homemade tomato soup that was creamy and delicious. The coffee was excellent too. Highly recommended.
Pros: service, food, ambience, coffee while you wait
Cons: none!

Every year when we come to Asheville, my family and I always make a stop at Barley's.They have a wide and varied selection of beers on tap from both local breweries and international powerhouses. The waitresses are knowledable about the beers, so they're happy to recommend something appropriate for everyone in your party. Kids are ok, too - they'll love the pizzas! Their pizzas are very inventive, mixing ingredients such as sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese, as well as the standard pepporoni fare. There is also more private bar seating upstairs for grown-ups. Great service, delicious food, and good brews!

As a vegan it was pure bliss to sit down to a menu *full* of options including appetizers, entrees, desserts and smoothies. We visited Asheville for the first time for a three day weekend and we ate there (with meat-eater friends who LOVED it) three times! I read previous posts about mediocre service, but our service was great. Our servers were very friendly and extremely helpful. I cannot remember the name of the guy who we had the first time, but we had Sarah the other two times and she is an absolute doll. Very helpful to me (vegan) and my friend who is on a Gluten Free diet. She even tailored a dessert special for my GF friend. The food is soooo good, I can't even explain it!!
If you were my friend, I'd say you gotta try this place!
Pros: The FOOD!! Location, quality, selection, great service
Cons: None

You don't need to go to Spain to experience excellent tapas...just go to Zambra! We made anniversary reservations and were not only seated immediately but they also remembered it was our anniversary and found us a cozy nook and then brought us congratulatory glasses of champagne. The tapas is absolutely excellent. We are foodies and are particular about where we eat. Zambra fulfilled every expectation. The food is delicious, the flavors are excellent, every dish is complex but balanced. Our server explained that the chef is also particular and buys only organic produce and non-hormone local meats. We had olives, cheeses, pork rolls, mushrooms, mussels, scallops, lamb, beef and more! Our server was great - full of info, patient, friendly, attentive but not intrusive. We didn't have the paella but the couple at the table near us did and they raved about it. We shared the goat cheese brownie (thank you to whoever wrote the prior review!) and it was terrific....it was topped with hand-made cream cheese ice cream and home-made caramel sauce--yum! Zambra was a phenomenal gastronomic as well as a terrific anniversary experience and we HIGHLY recommend it!
Pros: The food, the menu, the service, the atmosphere, the value
Cons: none

Enjoyed a perfectly prepared salmon steak with apricot chutney, saffron rice, and crisp grilled vegetables. This restaurant offered friendly, attentive service, excellent food, live music and belly dancing, traditional floor seating with pillows, and a great location for sitting on the street and people watching in beautiful downtown Asheville. Loved it!

We spent a few hours hanging out in Malaprops a few weekends ago and loved it! It is definitely a popular place. They seem to have a good amount of book readings scheduled and have a very nice cafe with delicious coffee and other selections. They seem to have a wide variety of books and the staff seemed nice. Definitely worth a stop in.
