I was excited to find out that Arlington had its very own art museum, but it turns out that it's not really worth the trip across town. The space is small for a museum, which I expected, but it's also so underused that it only took us ten minutes to see the whole thing, and that included peeking into the floors that didn't have anything displayed.
I wasn't expecting national quality or anything, but it is such a nice space that it's too bad that they aren't doing more with it. It's right next to the University of Texas Arlington campus, at the very least they could be showcasing local artists. If they actually had something up this would be a great place to do parties and receptions... it just needs a little work.

The Arlington Museum of Art is in a beautiful midcentury building in old downtown Arlington. They hold regular exhibitions featuring young Texas artists, and they also host student shows in conjunction with UTA. The facility is pretty small, but they make the most of their resources. It's a really nice space. It's available for rentals, too, so they have all kinds of interesting events in there. They also have a pretty well known haunted house during the month of October.
