This place probably have the freshest sushi you can find in LA area. You have to sit at the Sushi bar to get the full retreat. I usually go there and request for a couple things that i like then ask them to make me whatever they want to. This is where they will get fancy and creative - which is the best tasting food you probably can't find anywhere else. Best time to go is around 8:00pm to 8:30pm which is when they are not as crowded and will give you the most attention. And most of the time, they will give us some free dishes.
Recommended dish:
-Japanese Burrito
-White Tuna
-Uni
-Tai
-Giant Scallop

O.K., Start with the Albacore Sushi, Get two orders, for your self, waiting two minutes for another order is way too long! Ask the Sushi Chef what's good, tell him what you dont like, he'll convince you with his talent then, you'll love it! I dont like Mackerel and he heard me say it, he put two pieces of Japanese Mackerel in front of me, for free, and I order it everytime now! Try the Fatty Tuna cut roll, BOO BA BIM!!!! I've yet to have fresher, better, well-portioned sushi than Mako. I believe you pay for what you get, in the case of Mako Sushi it's the best deal in Sushi you'll ever find!!!!

Pros: Hide Away Place, Not Trendy, Intimate, Great Place To Take A Date That Likes Sushi
Cons: Looks A Little Shady, In A Strip Mall, Limited Seating (Get There Early Birdy)

This is my favorite sushi restaurant because their fishes are always fresh, and the sushi chefs are friendly. I never got "bad" service there. But the restaurant does get full very quickly because it's a popular place and seats are limited. I always sit at the sushi bar so can't say if the wait staff are attentive or not.
Pros: fresh seafood, great sushi, rarely found sushi dishes not offered elsewhere
Cons: Not many parking spaces in the plaza, small interior

Good food.....I drive all the way out here for some good sushi. They give great portions and food is fresh. The are usually very busy and wait for the sushi bar can be long. This place isn't fancy and waitress service is okay but the sushi chefs are great...especially Utaka. GReat local place. I would recommend going for some great sushi.....go sit at the sushi bar and have a drink with the chefs.

Eating here for the first time was a wonderful surprise. I had been driving 20 miles for sushi and all this time this marvelous little place was a few blocks away from me. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the fish is always fresh. Oyster shooters are superb. Just be careful about their portions... one hefty hand roll will fill you up... and their maki rolls are enough to feed 4... Okay so i'm exaggerating a bit... but the portions are very generous. Love this place!

Small family owned restaurant provides the best sushi in socal for a resonable price. The Salmon just melts in mouth, but that is not all. The best and almost mesmerizing taste is that of the seared albacore. If you have not had albacore at Mako sushi, you have never tastes sushi! The portion are very generous, no mini bites, you get on large delicious peice of sashimi. Service is a bit slow, but you can avoid it if you sit at the sushi bar.
Pros: Salmon, Albacore, Serving Size
Cons: Location, Small restauraunt, Service
