The Gandy Dancer has a reputation as one of Ann Arbor's premier restaurants. My wife and I talked for a long time about going there, and when I got a promotion, we decided to celebrate in style.
I have to say, the Gandy Dancer was a tremendously disappointing experience for both of us. The food was fair, but in and of itself was not worth the pricetag. The ambience was nice, but lots of places have that. And the server was surprisingly intrusive (and insulted us by talking down). For their prices, I expect top-notch service. We will not go back, and continue to tell all our friends that this restaurant was not that great.

The Gandy Dancer is one of Ann Arbor's premier restaurants. Since it is a Muir restaurant, its specialties are seafood and steak, but everything on the menu is superb. It is rather expensive, but perfect for a special night out.
It is located within easy walking distance of Kerrytown, right next to the train station (in fact, the building is the restored Ann Arbor train station).
If you aren't up for a hefty bill, try the restaurant on Sunday's for brunch (Be sure to make reservations). It is about $20/pp plus drinks, but it is an all you can eat buffet, which includes roast beef, handmade waffles, smoked salmon, the works!

The Gandy Dancer is a historical restaurant in Ann Arbor that is build a few feet from the railroad track. It has a beautiful view of Ann Arbor and the restaurant is decorated beautifully. If you like expensive, delicious food, then this is the place for you. Although quite pricey, this restaurant is top notch. They serve a variety of dishes including pasta, seafood, and different greens. The food is very good and the experience and scenery is lovely. I definitely recommend this restaurant to people visiting Ann Arbor, and if you live here you should go at least once. This is an experience you don't want to miss out on.
