I can't say enough good about this hotel. The staff were efficient and accommodating way past expectations. They upgraded our room (off-season). Sent bathrobes to our room. The pool is above average for inside hotel pools. The only downside is street parking can be a little tough to find. Location is pretty good - good restaurants within walking distance. In the complex, there is a gift shop, and a great art store which sells loads of native paintings, skin art and carvings.

We used to always stay in the Marriott Anchorage Downtown whenever we came to Anchorage. I recently stayed in the newly renovated Sheraton (see corresponding post in Judy's Book) and loved it - it's my new Anchorage hotel. However, the Marriott is extremely solid and the best second choice in town. It's standard Marriott - nothing special - but everything is as you'd expect. The views facing the water are pretty special since it's the last tall building before the water so make sure you ask for a room facing north west. Room service is nothing special - you are surrounded by good restaurants on 4th and 5th street - go for a walk and find something.

This hotel and the concept behind it is truly remarkable and unique in my experience. The staff is caring and understanding and the rooms are absolutely enchanting. You get cable TV a warm bed and they even serve two free meals a day (lunch and dinner) It was designed for people who are experencing financial and other difficulties and the cost is minimal if you qualify. You really do feel safe here and that is what most of the clientle need most.

Me and my family were there and the end of October time. My aunt was really sick and passed away. So the employees at Parkwood Inn. Were very helpful and arranged that we could stay there extra days. Ethel "sorry if mispelled" was very helpful. Said that he would work something out, because it was a busy time of the month for all motels. And got us two extra days more to stay. So that we can take care of family things. Jennifer was very kind and helped us also. I would like to take the time and thank these two employees for helping us at a time of need......... Thank you and God Bless you........... FROM San Francisco family.

The is the closest and most inexpensive lodging if you want a very short drive from the airport. I've stayed here 3 times - rooms are huge, with two queen beds, and most importantly - clean. Prie includes an pretty average brunch, but its nice after flying in at 1:00am.

This is a quiet little Bed and Breakfast located in the middle of downtown Anchorage. The Caribou Inn has maybe 10 rooms and the staff has been very friendly. It is the perfect location if you don't plan on renting a car while in Anchorage. It's no more than a 5 minute walk to the shops and restaurants located in Downtown Anchorage.
I would definitely stay here again
Pros: great service, quiet, affordable
Cons: room was slightly small

I've stayed here several times mostly because of the location and the price. It's located in downtown within walking distance of the mall and all the shops and restaurants. The rooms are very average but clean. When the place is full it can be somewhat noisy. On more than one occasion the elevator broke and we had to take the stairs. Good thing there are only three floors. Country Kitchen is across the street so breakfast is easy in the morning. They just redecorated the lobby and added a sitting area and fireplace which did improve it. If you come in the summer and are going to pay tourist prices you might as well stay at a nicer hotel, but off season Days Inn gives these rooms away.
Pros: Price, Location
Cons: , Dull rooms

The Sheraton Anchorage used to be a dump (and - as a result - we'd stay at the Marriott whenever we came - which was average, but clean.) They recently renovated the Sheraton and it's awesome. The hotel feels spacious, clean, and comfortable. The rooms are standard Sheraton fare, but plenty big, have a good room service menu, nice TV, in room Internet, and a nice bathroom. The hotel gift shop - which is well stocked - is open from 7am to 10pm, the coffee shop opens early (and has all the specialty coffee you'd ever want) and the sushi bar in the hotel is very good. The lobby furniture is oddly oversized which is an entertaining twist. Highly recommended if you are passing through Anchorage.
