This is a great hotel! The staff is amazing and very friendly! The rooms are average with some rooms being Amazing! the best time to come is Christmas season because they have this HUGE gingerbread town that gets put up in their lobby and its fun to see all the differant houses and stuff. Theyre located in downtown so getting around is easy

The Captain Cook is feeling pretty tired these days, especially with the newly upgraded Sheraton. The Captain Cook is one of the original Anchorage high rise hotels and it shows. Like much of Alaska, it needs a thorough vacuuming and a paint job. If you like dark, dark wood, semi-comfortable but "antique-y" furniture, and yellow tile in your bathroom, this is for you. But - if you are looking for refurbished 2005 happy / clean / friendly / upbeat, give the Sheraton a try.

The Captain Cook is feeling pretty tired these days, especially with the newly upgraded Sheraton. The Captain Cook is one of the original Anchorage high rise hotels and it shows. Like much of Alaska, it needs a thorough vacuuming and a paint job. If you like dark, dark wood, semi-comfortable but "antique-y" furniture, and yellow tile in your bathroom, this is for you.
