This store is great! They have a chocolate waterfall when you first walk in that is amazing. Half the store is just regular Alaskan souvenirs and the other half is the candy they make there. no matter what time you go in you can always see them making the candy and if you have a group you can schedule a tour of the candy making part and see up close how they make it They can also ship their candy anywhere in the world and make GREAT presents for people

I have sent several arrangements both in and out of Alaska with Bagoy's as well as shopped all three of their locations and have always been impressed with the friendly, knowledgeable, service I've received by the staff. Their arrangements are all so gorgeous and their gift selections are fantastic, stopping into one of their stores is like a mini-vacation, I always feel better after I've been there.

Allen and Peterson is a unique store all to itself. The people out on the floor were very helpful and knowledgeable and gave their honest opinions. The quality of the goods is the best I've seen in town, I love this store! The appliances are off to one side and the cool gadgets on the other. There is a full kitchen upstairs where cooking lessons are given, I would love to take a class there. Anyone who has any desire to remodel a current kitchen or just get some cool kitchen related gadgets should go there, no other stops needed! Rock on Allen and Peterson, Rock on.

Remember Alaska is a little bit more expensive than some of the other gift stores in town, but the quality is higher. They have nice shirts, but they have especially nice prints of Alaskan artists (not the really high end, but nice). you can sometimes get coupons for 10% off at some of their stores. They also have a variety of other products including funky moose business card holders (atleast when I was there).

We stop in this store everytime we have out of town guests. I know for sure that they will be able to find things in this store that they have never seen before! I stop in whenever I need to get a card for someone. They carry the funniest cards I have ever seen. In all the times I have stopped in, you can hear the laughter coming from the store. If your in a bad mood, just stop in at flypaper and read a few cards, you will feel much better!

I like this hallmark store. They have enough employees working that each customer has someone to help them when they need it! They are friendly in this store. It seems like everytime I go in, the employees are smiling and laughing. They are not afraid to joke around with customers either! I was in there not long ago looking for a certain type of card, and they had it. I also love the gift dept, I know I can find things there that everyone will love.

A long time ago I went to a gift shop in the Berkshires mountains of western Massachusetts called, "Where'd you get that?" and thought I would never find such a cool little boutique again. But I have. In South Anchorage, nestled on the edge of the Chugach mountain range. (With a fantabulous view from the check-out area as well!) A great selection of pretty much anything a loving Tia or Tio or Auntie or Uncle (or parent or grandparent, but we aren't in that category), could ask for in shopping for a range of kids' ages. Books and creative game-books. Stuffed animals in all my favorite flavors of furry and faux-fauna (dragons!). Puzzles galore. Dress-up clothes. Toy kitchens, toy science, toy animals, toy musical instruments, floaty things, banging things, kids jewelry, crafting sets, beading kits, flash card sets, faerie kingdoms, madlibs, kites, et al et al et al. (Although I didn't actually dig too far into the noisy "boy" corner.) I'm new to the area, so not sure if this location, near the Carrs off lower Huffman road, between the highways Seward (new and old), is a recent move. But it certainly is convenient to the U.S.P.S., which handles almost all of my toy giftings these days. And there is free gift wrap. And helpful, knowledgeable staff. And plenty of interesting, thought-provocations along the lines of, "How come we didn't have all this cool stuff when we were kids?" A web-site too, for colder weather! www.overtherainbowtoys DOT com Love it! I'll be supporting this business this holiday season!
Pros: Easy parking, convenient to Post Office, and other shops (Carrs, Ace hardware), good view!
Cons: It's in Alaska?

This unassuming store (except for the huge grizzly bear out front is deceptively huge! I had never been here until we had visitors from the lower 48 and I was amazed. You would never imagine so much stuff had been made bearing the ALASKA name. They have a huge assortment of jewelry, postcards, shot glasses, real glasses, blankets, clothing toys and more. Some really unique gifts and treasures. Pretty much anything you need or could ever use is in this shop and it has ALASKA emblazed on it somewhere. If you are feeling adventerous you can even buy the big stuffed grizzly inside, I believe it was in the $50,000 range, other than that extravagance, the souveniers are very reasonable priced and really cute, even for us old sourdoughs!

We love Party World because they seem to have EVERYTHING you could possibly need for a great party. Just walking through the store, you will remember all the things you usually forget until the last minute. Lots of unusual gifts and cute gags. All the popular charactors for kids and adults alike.
