A newly expanded Judie's is an Oasis of food amongst Amherst finery. A simple lunch you say?
A simple soup and popover you say? I say NOT!

The great thing about Judies (well there are several things) is that you can have a burger, vegetarian or otherwise, anyway you like. I ordered a veggie burger with mushrooms, it was delicious. When I am back in town again, I am going to hit Judies. The local critics rave about the popovers. I personally have never had a popover but if I had, I would probably have gotten it from this restaurant. The restaurant itself is in a house which is kind of charming and adds to the downtown Amherst feel. I would recommend Judies for anyone in Amherst.

Judie's is located in the heart of Amherst centre where there is always a lot going on, and it is surrounded by a bunch of little stores. I have only gone to Judie's for lunch, and I have had very good experiences. First, no matter what sandwich you get, you must get the popover. The bread is so good, it totally makes the sandwich. I have ordered the curried chicken salad popover - it's a GREAT unique mix of chicken, cranberries, bananas, mayo, curry, in a popover. Ok, it might sound nasty to you, but it is SO good. Yum. Judie's has a wide selection of soups, sandwiches, and salads.

Judie's is located on the main drag in downtown Amherst, MA near the UMass campus. You can't make reservations, so get there early or late because the lines can get long! The menu is very eclectic, there are vegetarian meals and regular pasta dishes and everything in between. The food is very high quality and the prices are very reasonable, it would cost much more if located closer to Boston. Try if you can to save room for dessert, there are so many concoctions to choose from. Judie is usually there which definitely keeps the food on top.

Either you adore Judie's or you detest it. I'm one who adores it! The menu offerings range from light - gourmet salads, interesting sandwich combinations, to rich comfort foods- gumbo, steaks, stews. The food is always amazing, not overly salty like many restaurants tend to do. When you go to Judie's, you HAVE to get a popover with apple butter. It's practically required.
I love the decor in the restaurant, it's bright folk-art paintings and collages done by a local artist. I also love seeing Judie walking around the restaurant every time I go.

I have never had a bad meal at Judie's. Judie herself is always strolling around, making sure that everything is perfect. Judie's is known for their amazing popovers. They are served with apple butter and the combo is to die for. From soup to salad to entree everything is imaginatively made with twists on classic favorites. Whether it be the almonds on the salads or just seasonings that you just can't put your finger on every bite tantalizes taste buds. Her french onion soup is the richest ever. For a guaranteed good meal this is the place to go.
