The Allegro is one of the nicest restaurants in Altoona and perfect for special occasions. The decor is simple yet elegant and the walls are enhanced with paintings by a local artist (most of which are for sale). They offer a wide variety of Italian cuisine, with veal and seafood dishes in abundance. I would highly recommend the crab cakes and the chicken saltimbocca. No matter what I've ordered, I have never had a bad meal there.
The prices are a bit high but because the entrees include bread, soup, salad, and complimentary appetizers you get a lot for your money. They also have special "Family Style" meals for groups of four or larger that are a good value.
