I really don't know what this person is talking about. It must of had a ownership change or something because the rooms are very clean. They actually look like they have been newly done. We also had a professional young lady wait on us at the front desk. She spoke good English just like my 21 year old daughter. I think this person must have something against them or something. I really enjoyed my stay. The place was very clean. There was lots of remodeling going on looked like to me because the half of the motel was shut down.

One of the pleasant surprises in our area is the Ballard Nature Center. The grounds are lovely, picnics are welcome and the trails are easy to walk and beautiful. One of the best things is the interactive area in the main building where kids can get hands on with nature...and it is all free. From the mission statement "The mission of the Ballard Nature Center is to provide high quality environmental education to students, educators, organizations, and individuals through visitor interpretation, educational displays, natural community restoration and management. Environmental education will emphasize the importance of natural communities and their associated ecosystems especially those communities typically found in southeastern Illinois." This is a hidden jewel.

located just off the interstate ramp is a citgo that has a gift shop combined.
which might come in handy to those who need to pick up a souvenir of their travels thru illinois for family back home.
the place is clean, avoid the restrooms. And the majority of the employees are friendly and willing to give helpful directions to other local establishments one may wish to find.
