I actually found Boardwalk by walking by on Harvard Ave and seeing their huge plasma in the window. I literally walked in and was greeted by a wonderful gentleman asking for my search criteria for an apartment. With in 20 minutes I was taken out to view 10 apartments! I couldn't believe that I went in there on a whim and walked out with an apartment 3 hours later. Not to mention it was 10:00 at night, which was great for me because I work 12 hour days. Thanks again!

This place is a better venue than it is a bar. They pull a lot of below-the-radar bands along with a ton of local talent. Every Night there is music, usually live, and if not live, at least live dj's. Friday night is the dance extravaganza known as "The Pill", usually brit pop and indie anthems get the party going. They have Tall Boy Cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon as well as good beers like bass and strongbow cider on tap. Summertime they do have a patio open in front, which overlooks the worst constructed intersection in Boston, Commonwealth Ave. and Harvard Ave. That also makes it a good place to people watch. Most annoying...all the real estate agencies around. Best part...getting in for free when your friend's band put you on the list.

So I wouldn't eat here everyday or you might not feel so great, but the food is tasy! It is really convinient and for being a cart, there is a ton of variety!
I just moved here a few months ago but Sami knows everyone and rumor is he's been around here forever. He served some people's parents! Definitely stop, it's worth the experience! And its 20% if you pay with Crimson Cash.

I had just found a new job and only had about three weeks to find the perfect apartment in Boston. I decided it would be a good idea to get three agents from different companies to show me apartments. I was extremely disappointed by two of them. The agents were unprofessional, the way they acted and dressed, and they only showed me about three apartments each. However, Eric from Boardwalk Properties did a great job. Not only did he show me a large number of apartments, they all seemed to fit my requirements and needs much more than the others I had been shown. Eric was extremely professional and got everything done in a timely fashion. I would recommend his company to anyone!!!

Alfredo's is a little mom and pop's pizza place near the corner of Cambridge st. and Brighton Ave. Pizzas are as cheap as $7 and it's good thin crust not-too-greasy italian style. Boston is hard-up for good pizza...only Upper Crust and some places in the North End know how to do it right, but Alfredo's is a great substitute if you're in Allston/Brighton and are on a budget. They deliver, and it's actually the chef's dad or wife who drives it to you, so if you live a few floors up, maybe it'd be nice to go down and meet your deliverer. They're really nice people, and the pizza hits the spot. Pretty decent italian dishes too.

The Reef is a hole in the wall, one of many tucked in little cubes along Brighton Ave. You walk in and are greeted by a 30ish-year-old guy with a real genuine grin, and a little messed up eye. In the background is Lebanese world news, which he is always watching...that or some soccer. Their chicken scawarma and falefel are awesome and clock in around 5 bucks. the shawarma isn't big enough though, it always leaves you wanting a little bit more. I've had a few of their dishes, but I wouldn't recommend their lamb shwarma plate. You get a little too close to the meat...Something like that, I'd rather have a wrap hiding it a bit. Their pita and hoummus and veggie things are all good too.

Part of the Allston Rock City experience, Mr. Music is there when you need them. It's not huge, like other big chains around Boston, but it's got a lot to offer. They have a huge array of electro-harmonix guitar pedals and other wierd gizmos. They're also priced slightly under websites on many items, which is a bonus when you weigh in shipping and handling expenses. They're also likely to cut you a deal on used items lying around, $5 bucks for a boss daisy chain out of the box or maybe a free cable. Mr. Music also has strings, tuners, wall mounts, guitars, banjos, basses, amps, sheet music, and everything else you would expect in a music store. They have CDs and records too. You might get sucked into a strange conversation or have to sit through someone playing happy birthday in C minor, but it's probably better than some kid trying to play metallica in Guitar Center.
