Just west of the city is the Petroglyph National Monument where there are remenents of those who lived in the area hundreds of years ago. They have one of the best hiking areas you will find in town. It is a 2 mile trail that takes you through part of the park, the scenery is great and you get to see some petroglyphs. Most of the petroglyphs are north of the visitors center about 2 miles. You can walk through several areas and see them and even climb up a hill to see them scattered around there. Is is a nice safe place for older kids probably 5 and up. You can not use a stroller well but if they can walk it is great.
