The service departments work was adequate. They were great communicators and very organized. One time they put a dent into my vehicle while they had it on their lot. They did however get the bodywork fixed in a timely manner. I took my car in for a dead transmission at 63k miles. Although all the repairs were covered under warranty they would not release my vehicle until after they had received full payment. So even though all the repairs were complete and paid for under warranty, it took them 4 weeks before they would release my car to me. I was out a vehicle for a month. I spoke with the service manager and he was very rude and didn't listen to anything I had to say.
Also, my 2005 Volkswagen Passat Sedan is an unreliable machine that is constantly in need of repairs. It's a nice looking car that is fun to drive, but I will never buy another Volkswagen due to it poor engineering and it's very lackluster warranty. One of the technicians even told me that the types of problems I was having were common. German engineering doesn't mean what it used to.

I won't take all the time needed to list each grievance I have with Univ. VW, but suffice to say, their service dept. is totally incompetent. Beware!

I have been nothing but pleased with service I have received from University Volkswagen. I have had the unfortunate luck of getting stuck in the worst car in the entire world. To everyone who reads this I say: DO NOT BUY A VOLKSWAGEN! However in the two years I have owned my beetle I have dealt with MANY auto shops and University Volkswagen is the best! They are helpful, compassionate, and they know what they are doing. As long as I am stuck in this awful car I will take it nowhere else. Thanks for the great job!

I hate it when someone has their own employees write reviews. University is one of the more mediocre service departments in the country, surpassing the dealer in Ft. Walton, FL for incompetence. I've lived across the country in my profession and I've purchased VW products since 1979. The lack of attention to detail and ability to find excuses for bad customer service pervade the service department of this dealer. As the only VW dealer in ABQ I guess they figure they have a captive audience. I'm heading to Santa Fe for my next service and see if things improve.

I have purchased two vehicles from this dealer. The sales staff are not a problem. The problem is the service department. The VW side has a lot of factory certified technicians on staff, there's a reason for that, the Mazda side has one, this came from someone who was eager to sell a Mazda to me over a VW. She was trying to say that Mazda is more reliable, well, so far that is true but I have warranty cosmetic issues with the interior and have to wait a very long time to get it serviced. I made an appointment weeks in advance, got a call the day before to confirm the appointment was at 8AM. Brought the car in and at 11AM it had not been looked at. I was told by the representative that an appointment only lets you get in line for service that day and I should have been there at 7:15AM since they only have one technician for Mazda. So basically an appointment means nothing to this dealer and I would have been better off just bringing it in without an appointment and been done weeks ago. Oh, and with my VW, they have forgotten to tighten lug nuts on the wheel resulting in it separating from the car a few miles down the road, they have forgotten to tighten an oil pan drain plug, we caught that one before it caused a real big problem, they could never really get the check engine light to not come on every few thousand miles either. I have now and have had other vehicles in the past and have never had such poor service anywhere else. I am done with this dealer. There is another Mazda dealer in town but for VW, good luck.
PROS: They take appointments
CONS: Appointments mean nothing
