VIsiting Face Magic for a facial is like taking a brief, restorative vacation. A soothing setting, subdued music and aestheticians with gifted hands make every visit a treat. I started going to Face Magic when I turned 40 in order to feel confident that I was doing the most I could for my skin. I've been a loyal patron for 16 years. Enough said!

Bliss. Sushi-loving, caviar-snacking, seaweed-noshing bliss. Unlike local health food and typpie stores, even unlike many Chinatown grocery stores, Tokyo Fish Market's seaweed is both cheap and abundant. Their kombu is the cheapest I've found anywhere. they season the salmon roe and tobiko themselves, the altter in regular (orange), wasabi (green), yuzu (yellow), and regular colored black with squid ink. And they have tons of groceries thanks to their recent expansion, including organic produce and frozen foods. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful around the large seafood counter. So wonderful!

This is a very convenient location and they are quick and do a great job. They are very clean and friendly. If you don’t bring your own reading material, there are tons of magazines hanging around available to read. You never have to wait for more than 10-15 minutes even on a walk in basis.

I needed a good photographer who could produce some photos that would work for career advancement and networking. I'm not a businessy-type, and I wanted something down-to-earth but flattering. I chose Clayton because I was drawn to photos on his website: he seemed to catch people in spontaneous poses that came across as natural but aesthetically attractive and interesting. When I spoke with him on the phone, I knew I wanted to work with him. He's friendly, intelligent, casual, and likable. But nothing prepared me for the actual shoot and results. He spent so much time making sure I had the setting and angles I wanted. He went out of his way to accommodate me. And, I was TRANSFIXED by the array of fantastic photos. I literally had difficulty narrowing down below 40 that I really liked, and I'm not a vain person. He has an eye for color and an eye for character. He is also undeniably an artist but not in an in-your-face dramatic way. Nothing cliche, either. If you're looking for something vivid, real, and elegant, go with Clayton. If you're looking for something else, consider him anyway... he's great to work with! I'll definitely look him up the next time I need photos taken of any kind.
Pros: exceptional quality of photos, price, friendly, easy parking
Cons: none

This is the most competent vet I have ever been to. Three vets before had just accepted my assumption that Jesse had a urinary tract infection, and gave her antibiotics that sort of worked for a week or two. Only the vet here knew that she couldn't have a UTI, because she was way too young, and correctly said that it was crystals in her bladder and to take her off dry food, and gave her a ton of saline stuff to fix the problem immediately. It didn't cost that much - in the $55 area? - and it ended a six-month-long stint of pee puddles and bloody urine.

If you're looking for Southern-Style cooking in a very friendly atmosphere, look no further than Jodie's. It's a small place across from the BART tracks in Albany. And when I say small, I mean there's seating for maybe 6 people (excluding outdoor tables). It's one of those places where everyone knows your name. The food is really great and there are plenty of choices (from the menu on the wall). It's a tad on the expensive side for a hole-in-the-wall-style joint, but it's worth it for both the food and the atmosphere.
