Came here a few times after moving to Akron. Its mediocre and overpriced at best. I know its a legend and all you NE Ohio folks are SO loyal to your places and points of pride. But really this pizza is mediocre at best. Not that Akron is a hub for great pizza but sheesh. The staff is rude every time which is SO odd for NE Ohi - coming from the East coast a point of true love for Ohio is how friendly polite and helpful people can be. Maybe the place is a tough place to work but it was very hard wach time not to get "my philly up" and read some people. Skip it - until they start trying harder.
Pros: the legend
Cons: The reality - This place is resting on its laurels

Have been living in germany for several years, but make sure every time I'm back home to stop in ... most of the time with a few non-ohioans in tow. I wear my 'if lost please return to luigis' tshirt with pride, and now a number of my freinds over here understand why!
Pros: all the food is great, but epecially the pizza and salad
Cons: the crowds at peak times

Meatball Splash, salad swimming in mozz cheese, terrific dishes abound in this resturant. It offers so much personality and great taste - and all open until late at nite. There is only one slight downfall - its cash/check only. There is an atm type machine in back - be aware of fees from the machine and your bank. Overall one of my favorite places to go in Akron - late nite or otherwise.

I lived my whole life in akron so i've been to luigi's countless times. The cheese salad is the best. Everything else on menu (and i've had everything) is very "ok" and this is how everyone else i know feels also. The meatballs might be the worst I've ever had, and luigi's is famous in Akron ...but it's also famous for making you go straight to the bathroom.

People eat at Luigi's for two reasons: the food and the tradition. As an Akron icon, Luigi's has been a favorite of both locals and tourists for years. The wall is covered with pictures of celebrity diners. The food is amazing. My wife and I have driven far out of our way to swing by Luigi's. And the price is pretty reasonable. Now the bad news: the service is sub-par, waiting for a table can be painful (no lobby), and parking is abysmal (although somewhat better lately). Still, if you're in Akron for the first time, you must try Luigi's. It's practically a requirement!
Pros: Great Food, Family-Friendly
Cons: Parking, Wait Times, No Lobby

Luigi's is a northeast Ohio tradition--far better than the much ballyhooed "east side" restaurants in Cleveland The menu is limited, the food is hearty, portions are, for the most part, generous You do have to wait in line, sometimes more than 30 minutes The place is always busy The waitresses are all very, very nice Some of them have been there over twenty years It is a fun place to go
The problem here is the kitchen The food is inconsistent Sometimes it is fantastic Sometimes there are real problems The kitchen help is unstable; there is a constant turnover Sometimes you wonder ""what the h*** are they doing in there?" Your server will try to make amends if you have a problem, but be prepared for a long wait to rectify a problem
Don't let the kitchen incompetency scare you away Usually the food is good
Go here with the right attitude It is not "The Ritz" but a wholesome, unique place to eat and not part of a bland, mediocre, overpriced chain

The salad dressing is simple oil and vinegar yet is so good. Don't bother getting a salad unless you splash out extra for the cheese. The pizza is too crusty for me (I'm a thin crust gal) so sometimes I get the lasagna; it usually takes four or five forkfuls to break through the cheese layer to get to the pasta. Yum. Other times I get perfectly done french fries with a side of mozzarella sticks. Hey, I get a salad too so it's healthy, right?
Pros: We go so often the waitress knows our order!
Cons: No credit cards but there is an ATM

I have been going to Luigi's since I was a kid. I think some of the waitresses have been there that long! The food is great and inexpensive. They no longer have a smoking section, so the wait isn't as long as it has been in the past. The salad is delicious, although to describe it, it sounds somewhat plain. It is iceberg lettuce, sliced radishes and cheese piled high and dressed with Italian dressing. I dare anyone to try to eat it without having cheese overflow onto the placemat. Excellent bread is served with the salad. The pizza is the thick Sicilian style. I recommend the sausage. O.K...I have to end this. I am making myself hungry!
Pros: pizza, salad, price
Cons: none that I can think of
