the decor was lovely, the service was fair for a slow night. Being a local person I often like diners because of the complete meal, bread, soup, salad and the entree and i'm not one for fast food. I had eaten there on a few occasions in the past and was very disappointed this trip I had french onion soup, salad and the roasted chicken with dressing. all was pretty good except the roasted chicken... it was over cooked and extremely dry, the wing and leg portion was as hard as a rock and was uneatable. I brought this to the waitress' attention and she said it was nothing that could be done. so..... instead of making a big deal, I've opted not to dine there again. Very expensive also.
Pros: the location
Cons: expensive

I love the Phoenix diner. They have great food and the servers are always pleasant. They have really good chicken dishes and the best banana cream pie I've ever had!

The food is typical diner fare at higher prices than other local diners. It is the closest diner to our house and we end up going once or twice a month. Would go more often if:
1. The hostesses acted as if they had ever seen us before.
2. They didn't play awful, canned radio of Delilah every night.
3. The prices were better..
Most of the waitresses are nice even though forced to wear awful, outdated, ill fitting blue uniforms. The men are allowed to wear black pants and a white shirt as are new hires. Needless to say they go through a lot of people.

We've eaten here several times and have always enjoyed it. The menu is varied and the food has always been great. The service has always been good too. There is a display case with all of the great deserts that they make and serve, but to be honest, we have never had room for desert.

An interesting phenomenon about the Phoenix is that your degree of service is directly related to the area of the restaurant in which you are seated. If you pass by the cakes in the round and turn right, you're in good shape. But more often than not, your waitress is less interested in you when you've been seated to the left, in the larger room. This is particularly true during lunch hours on weekdays. But the coffee is great and dinners are phenomenal no matter where you sit--and if you like seafood with pasta, it is the place to go!
Pros: good parking, great views, good bathrooms
