I never received a hair cut that I didn't like when I chose to go to Vain's.
The shop itself is hip, clean and very well maintained. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable about hair care. I always receive excellent service from the artists. They really take their time getting to know you, your hair type and what sort of cut and style you're looking for. However, they aren't afraid to tell you the truth about the sort of effort and time your new cut will take. They will be brutally honest with you about the kind of work your new cut will take once you leave the salon. I always take their suggestions seriously because they REALLY know hair.
Emmett does some of the best short hair/pixie/boycut styles around! Rachel (from the Ballard shop) is their curly hair specialist and is a good choice if you've got thick curly and unruly hair!
My only complaint is that their parking SUCKS. I drive all the way from Tacoma to see these guys (yes, they ARE worth it!). I have pay to park next door to the salon, so if you're in the downtown area I recommend walking or taking the bus. It is much easier and less expensive!
Pros: Skilled artists, cool atmosphere, good selection of products

I love you, Masae. All I have to say each time is "Do what you want" and I am happy 100% of the time. She is adorable, funny and will listen to all the drama, love, and greatness in your life. Basically she is like a hot shrink that makes you look hot too. Please go to see Masae. You will so agree.
The salon:
The new location is beautiful to say the least. Modern and sleek. A waterfall greets you as well as the well dressed receptionist. You are escorted to change and asked if you would like your latte soy or non fat. With a live dj spinning almost all the time there is never a quiet moment and you will pretty much be guaranteed to be dancing in your chair. Flawless service. Flawless beauty. 100% satisfaction.

I was Christmas shopping downtown Seattle when a pleasant guy approached me, and asked me if I wanted to be a hair model. It was very flattering. I have never had anyone ask me about hair modeling. I am certainly not what one would describe as cover girl beautiful, nor do I have the easiest hair in the world to work with. He promised that he was not a stocker, and that I could google his name, and Salon, and read about his pride in coloring, and cutting hair. After checking his background I decided to wrangle the courage to let him go ahead. So I called, and we settled on a time, and day. He told me that I had a really good neck, and that my head shape was perfect for a collection of work that he was training with. I left looking like an art piece. I work in the city, and he told me that people would notice my hair. I left home for the holidays to Washington DC, and people in both airports have complimented on the blonde color, and hair cut. My mother, and sisters were amazed. I haven?t written reviews in the past, but just wanted to check in, and say thank you to Tim for a really nice start to my 2010.

The food is excellent, place is beautiful, and the service is good. We went early on a Saturday right at 5pm because we couldn't get in at any other time. The waitstaff was very attentive, knowledgable, and professional! The restaurant itself is beautiful. It's not a white linen type of place. It feels more like an upscale trattoria you find in Milan or Florence. The seating for 2 looked a little close to each other but very European. This was the best bread I've ever had in my life, which sounds silly, but all the bread is baked fresh that day. From Breadsticks (soft breadstickes topped with seasalt and rosemary), unsalted tascan bread, and foccaccia served with olive oil and fennel salt. We started with the peach & thyme bellinis which were delicious . Then there was the Chefs Little Bites antipasti, which were cured meats, cheeses, a few different pates, pickled vegetables, grilled prawns and some type of friend polenta. We were a group of 4 and shared some risotto as a starter (made with saffron rissotto and a fresh red sauce) with Lobster. . I had the swordfish special then theothers had, pasta and wild boar. All were very good. For dessert there a complimentary birthday tiramisu which was light and airy.. All in all it was a perfect meal. well-paced, comfortable and delicious.

You wouldn't believe the number of compliments that I get on my haircut and - especially - the color. Stephen is extremely professional and fast. I have a terrific graduated bob with a base color and two foil colors - all reds. It's a rich tone-on-tone effect, like those silks that change color depending on how the light hits them. He's also great about mixing things up, a little change here and there to keep me from getting bored. My hair has never been healthier or looked better. By now, I've also seen many clients that he's just finishing when I arrive. Everyone comes away with their own look because he listens to them and has great range. We look like who we really are - except even better.

I recently moved from the Portland area to Gig Harbor. After having a bad experience at Bocz Salon in Seattle (which came highly recommened), I have been driving to Portland to get my hair done. Today I had my hair done by Jeremy at the Lisa Power Salon ,and it turned out great. The staff is very friendly and professional. Jeremy did a great job with my blonde highlights and listened to what I wanted! I observed the other stylists and they were very knowledgable and proffesional as well. If you have been looking for a place to go and get great service and results go here!
Pros: excellent service for people with high expectations
