Despite the very lovely ambience and friendly staff, I found the food quite average. I will say that they serve a very tasty salad that includes truffle oil (delicious) but everything else was disappointing. The spaghetti with scallops basically was a LOT of oil on spaghetti and a few SHAVED tiny pieces of scallops. The chocolate tortini was about the size of a Hershey kiss and the mixed drinks from the bar were weak. Downtown has many better restaurant options.

My experience was not a pleasant one. My husband and I wanted to check out this new and happening place we heard about, we walked from my husbands office about a mile with our bags in tow hoping to have a drink or two. We got there early 5:00 pm. We could not find a seat, mainly because other patrons were saving them for their friends that may show up or not......................I am fine with standing, the first thing when I got to the corner to stand, some patrons informed me the seats were taken. At this time I can see the place is crowded, I am not planning on staying but you would think I could stand there and at least have a drink . I then move away down a few seats to stand and again by another patron am advised he is saving two seats. I don't want their seats, I want a nice glass of wine and get the hell out of this pretentious place. In the meantime the bartender ( female) ignores the whole situation. My husband orders us two glasses of wine. We were there probably 45 mins and then we were offered the seats because the friends were not showing up until later, or not at all.What a surprise?/Why would you not offer the seats untilyour friends show up? My question is "how much business are you losing letting patrons save seats?" The biggest thing for me was how the bartender just ignored uslike " were to cool to serve you a drink " Of course this is all my perception. I want Barolo to know I nor my husband will be back and we will let everyone know of the most unhospitable bar in Seattle

I wish I'd eaten here sooner! A little NYC chic comes to the Emerald City down the street from the Flagship Nordstrom. The food was dreamy. Whoever invented the grilled salad is a genius. And the calamari made me want to lick my plate. The pasta was beyond believable. However, there's no doubt about what the server said: Made Fresh Daily. I'm pretty sure it melted in my mouth -- it was so light -- but substantial in a way that it stood up to the outstanding sauce/ragu/cheese fabulousness that made it the best past dish I've ever had. It doesn't really come as a surprise, but it turns out that chef behind the curtain is actually Italian. To finish my meal, I had a beautiful and sophisticated cheesecake. No wonder Seattle Magazine gave it a nod for excellence in its dessert issue. Everyone's dinners looked so good that it took a while to decide what to order -- I wanted everything I saw! Lamb burger! Ravioli! Steak! Poached pear! Oh my! (I don't drink, but the grappa glasses are so cool that I thought about starting.) I'll be clicking my heals to go back soon. Follow the yellow brick road there, but be sure to make a reservation. The place was packed. There's no place like Barolo.

Very unique in style; somewhat east-coastish. Barolo is a wonderful restaurant. The food is flavorful and well presented and the service is friendly, not sloppy, not snobbish, just right. Check out the bar for cocktails and apps or the dining room for a really good dinner.

Wow! Amazing happy hour prices! A buffalo burger, calamari, and two glasses of wine for around 20 dollars! The music is beautiful and the dining room is equally entertaining with the candle light, beautiful people and ornate chandaliers. The torteloni cannot be missed. The wine list is very well balanced with a nice assortment of familiar Italian varietals and a well balanced selection of domestic offerings. However, there is a major lack of attentiveness at the bar. The young woman behind the bar was very aloof and made us feel like we should maybe go some place else. The consistency of our drinks was very questionable considering 3 cosmos all tasted very different from each others. All in all, Barolo is a great experience just make sure to skip the bar by all means unless it's happy hour! Pros: valet Parking, ambiance Cons: Bar service

Our group tried two apps, two different salads, and four different entrees. Everthing was excellent. You'd really have to be a nit picking foodie to find many flaws. Service was slow to start but fine for the rest of the meal. With the longer days now, I suppose the restaurant doesn't get that more, low-light romantic atmosphere until dark. What we wondered though, in a place serving many traditional Italian dishes, what's with the loud sheik/fast paced/night club background music? I would have expected some traditional Italian tunes playing in the background or something more of a classical nature. However when you look around and realize this is sort of an 'in place' for the younger (20's, early 30's crowd - saw several 20-somethings all made up with their Sugar Daddys - this place has a lot of 'lookers' including some of the staff) you realize they are trying to cater to the foodie (of all ages) and the younger crowd looking for a place to impress a date before going clubbing I suppose. I'm late 30's and would have prefered Frank Sinatra singing 'That's Amore' in the background instead of the techno'ish beats. Seemed like a mismatch to me. It would be perfect if they could acoustically separate the bar setting music from the dining area and go for more slow-paced relaxed music in the dining area. I'd give it five stars, but the music just didn't match the cuisine and general ambiance in my opinion and the wait staff seemed to be a tad overwhelmed. A strong 4+ star rating. Pros: Superb food and lots of pretty people Cons: Jazzersize background music and possible slightly understaffed
