My wife and I went to Le Pichet for the first time last night. While I don't have any food allergies, my wife is very allergic to diary. I know what you're saying, why go to a French restaurant if you have a dairy allergy? Because every time we do, the chef will alter one of the dishes to make it without dairy (and because I can eat whatever I want). It never fails. Until last night. Not only did they refuse to do any modification to any dish (except leave the cheese off a salad), the waitress had to go back and forth to the kitchen 4 times asking if certain dishes had diary in them. And we were informed that she's been there for years. The wait staff should know EVERYTHING about the dishes they are serving. On the bright side, the food was wonderful. I had the Chicken-pork sausage and it was sublime. So, go for the food, stay away if you're picky or have any kind of food allergy.
Pros: great food, casual setting, quaint
Cons: chef will not alter food, rude uninformed waitstaff

When you want a cozy little dinner with excellent food and friendly service, Le Pichet rarely disappoints. When you want the best roast chicken in Seattle and hot melt-in-your-mouth french onion soup, Le Pichet NEVER disappoints! Sure you have to wait sometimes (and there's really no where to sit), and if you're sat by the door on a cold day it gets pretty chilly.....but all that doesn't really matter. You've come for the best french food in the city and you're going to get it.
Pros: Cozy, great french fare, authentic
Cons: no waiting area, inconsistent service

I love this place for the Frenchy feel but that includes the snooty servers. Lunch is my favorite here especially outside in the summer.

YES, also love the chicken liver. Waiters can be a bit aloof though. Must be the french thing. Also try the salad with hazel nuts - a perfect balance.

A friend took me here on a 'date' a couple weeks ago, and the roasted chicken was AMAZING. Probably the best chicken I've ever tasted. I've been having cravings for it ever since. We were seated promptly (it was pretty empty on a Tuesday evening) and it was nice to not have people crowding us. I will definitely be coming back here again, just for that chicken!
Pros: Chicken!
Cons: Difficult Parking

This is not a fancy spot but we have had two good meals here and we like sitting at the bar and people watching. Similarly both times we were there I saw people alone, sitting at the bar eating and looking quite comfortable. Some of the food we had was great but my fish was overdone and we had 3 good glasses of one and one bad one where it seemed as if the bartender was just trying to offload it (we asked for a recommendation). I would go back though despite these flaws.

Let me just say that this restaurant has a special place in my heart. I have loved it since it first opened, it has been the only restaurant in downtown that has kept me coming back for more on a regular basis. The atmosphere is very french and be prepared to cosy up to your neighbor, all of the seats at the bar and tables are usually full. Around 12am on a Saturday night is fairly empty and you will still be served food until 2am. The smooth terrine makes me swoon and the chocolat chaud is so decadent! I feel like I am committing a mortal sin by letting the chocolate graze across my lips....the only thing that could make this drink better is a chaser of Boulard Calvados! I have had everything on the menu and more over the years and the special that stands out the most is the Brandade. Fantastic! If you happen to have room for dessert they are wonderful (the exception is the rice pudding, quite bland).
The service is so-so especially since one of the great waitress' went over to Cafe Presse. But all in all this is my favorite place to be on a cold fall evening or a breezy summer day.

Le Pichet is a nice place, if you could ever get any service. With the 3-4 servers there on a Friday night, seems like they should be able to get things done. The food is good, but with all of the other great French places in the city, I wouldn't bother with Le Pichet.
Pros: $4 pastis
Cons: service

While Le Pichet tries really hard to be sooo French, what they forget is that first and foremost the French are famous for their hospitality!
The food is passable (although a side of fries and sausage came looking like someone had done it with last year's oil), but very little can compensate for servers forgetting that they are here to serve! - and not be imagined cultural ambassadors for an imagined France.
Recommended if you want to go oomph over mediocre food while being uncomfortably seated in a narrow alley in clothes you never liked anyway.
Pros: There's plenty of options around to try instead.
Cons: See above

Le Pichet. Just the name makes me smile. I frequent this restaurant as often as possible...even though it is often crowded and noisy. The food is incredibly authentic as is the service (as in - the servers often have attitudes and are brisk just like the sterotype of French waiters). I would try to list my favorite things on the menu, but that would take up much more space then I have. If nothing else, try the chaucutrie...it is a variety of cold meats and pate...yum yum. As the tables are crammed in there and you can hear everything the tables around you are saying, I would not recommend it for "date night", but it is a great place to meet friends.
Pros: Great food!
Cons: Spotty service, space is cramped.
