I have been here a few times, always in Summer, and it has always been crowded. Tacos Bacalao (fried fish tacos) are my favorite along with their cactus nachos and Mango Margaritas. Mmmm... Nice having a salsa bar (the mango salsa is my favorite). Try to snag a spot on the deck overlooking the water.
Pros: Tacos, deck dining, salsa, margaritas, Cactus nachos
Cons: Long line, can be a wait esp. on summer weekends, HARD to find parking!

Ototo in Queen Anne is an absolutely OUTSTANDING sushi spot. I've had sushi all over the US since the 80s, and honestly, despite getting things I had never even tried before (along with a rainbow roll and the must-have melt me sockeye sushi)... well, I was impressed impressed impressed and more importantly happy. It has Umi and the trendy hotspot sushi spots beat by a landslide and is even, if sushi is truly your craving, a bit better than Nishino in my opinion... only a bit, mind you, since Nishino... well, it IS kinda the best Japanese food in the whole country :) That said, Ototo costs about half that of Nishino but also lacks some of the wildly creative specialties or the "chef will surprise you gleefully" option.
So in my most recent visit, I started with tempura... but I wasn't feeling like eating random amounts of onions and broccoli, etc... I saw "yam tempura" as part of a roll then asked what was in the veggie temp sampler... yam, of course, but also pumpkin, which was also amazing. They were entirely relaxed about customizing it (no extra charge), and it was positively wonderful.
Next came the most surprising and pleasantly "holy frickin wow" part of our meal, black cod that was marinated in sweet sake and grilled perrrfectly then topped with green soy bean sauce and served with grilled asparagus and zucchini on a bed of yummy greens. While the portion wasn't enormous, the flavor and heartiness were well worth the not-so-high cost...
After warming up with those, we went to our sushi and rolls. I didn't care for geoduck, but the rest... mmm! Absolutely the best wild sockeye, and for $4, we got a really good pickled mackerel roll with pickled ginger and things I forget :) Add a rainbow roll, plum and natto rolls, & fondue: only $50!
My only "complaints?" The plum paste roll needs more balance to accent the plum, and sniffle, they weren't serving the seasonal fresh rolls at 9pm on a Sunday. With salmon, tuna, avocado, and *mango,* I'll be back!
Pros: best sushi ever, great ambience (not loud like many Seattle sushi spots!), service was perfect and helped us a LOT
Cons: like many, they stop serving things like fresh spring rolls late, and geoduck and ume shiso kyu weren't anything wowing

My husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here and I just want to do it all over again, and again! We had the Chef's tasting menu with seven courses:
1-Starting with oysters on the half shell. Now I am not usually into oysters- it's a texture thing- but these were delicious! half of them had a pink grapefruit compote and the other half had a pickled cucumber salad which was my fave.
2-Next was foie gras two ways, one in a smooth and flavorful pate form, the other seared to perfection-both atop crisp Brioche.
3-Then Chilled Vichyssoise, a potato and leek version that was smooth and delicious. The perfect palate cleanser!
4-Next was the Alaskan Halibut with controne Beans heirloom tomatoes and a basil based sauce. It was again a delightful dish.
5-Then came the tenderloin of Beef with demi glace, truffle butter, and silky mashed potatoes. This was our favorite course of all! The tenderloin was cooked perfectly rare/medium rare and melted on your tongue. The truffle butter and the handmade demi glace were perfection, and the potatoes were beaten so silky smooth...Chez Shea has created the ultimate meat and potatoes dish!
6-Next came a cheese trio with an exquisite goat Roquefort bleu cheese (my fave!), a Delice de Bourgogne which was creamy and very strong, then Petit Basque. Served with an apricot compote to cleanse the palate.
7-Finally was dessert which was a light and creamy panna cotta with fresh berries. Perfect for summer, very light and refreshing.
The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, the atmosphere romantic and comfortable, and the food an adventure for the senses.
Pros: AMAZING food, attentive staff, wine list, and more
Cons: pricey!

Jaala is an amazing massage therapist. We were on vacation from Chicago and needed some R&R. We scheduled a massage at Ummelina based upon a recommendation from a friend of ours that had visited Seattle about 8 months ago. All she could talk about was this spa experience. It really is that. They treat you well. JAALA is wonderful - she was my massage therapist. She listened to all my concerns and needs and was great. She has really strong technique, which I can appreciate being in the same industry and getting a massage/month, and utiliizes it well. I cannot say enough about Jaala - she is worth it. We each had a 90 min session and that would be my recommendation - it's worth it! Tell her Jason from Chicago sent you!
Pros: Jaala's hands, smile, and technical ability
Cons: traffic noise

The Crow is close to downtown and the Seattle Center, and all other attractions the city has to offer. And certainly is a deluxe American neighborhood bistro.
The Mediterranean platter worked well for starters. The Kumamoto Oysters were superb, and three of us had the chicken (which I will certain repeat next time around). Generally oysters cost about the same, big or small. Smaller oysters are usually tastier.
The wine list worked well with the food, complementing the entire dinner experience. Let them help you select, and you will probably have a bottle both better and cheaper than if you go it alone. As stated in the Seattle Times "They do everything absolutely right."
