Long live King Felix! I knew before the year began that we wouldn't be all that great next year, but the team is finally making the move that should have been done two years ago. Out with the old, in with the new. With Felix Hernandez, Jeremy Reed, Adrien Beltre, Richie Sexson, and hopefully Bucky, we will be a team to reckon with in 2007. Go M's!

Village Maternity has got some great maternity clothes and adorable stuff for babies. They are also a great place for breastfeeding needs, including pump rental.
Although the clothes are a little spendy, they are great quality. This is the place to go to get your staples, especially if you need work-appropriate wear.

I'm an avid runner, and finally checked out Super Jock 'n Jill from a friend's recommendation. In the past, I just bought whatever was on sale at Big 5, but the service, fitting, and advice you get from the employees is unmatched. Every employee seems to be very knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about running.
I bought a pair, took it home, and was unhappy after a few runs. With NO QUESTIONS ASKED, they apologized and allowed me to fit a new pair, which I am very happy with. ...and they're very reasonably priced. Sure, you might find the same pair of shoes online for $15-20 cheaper, but the service you get here is incredible. Most pairs I tried on were right around $100.

Athletic women listen up- this store rocks, in particular their sports bra selection. They have always had a catalogue and have now opened a shop on Greenlake. They also sell running shoes, shorts, shirts, etc. Stop by and you'll be happy with what you see.

This is a delightful store, with an emphasis on thoroughness and quality. I've had several pair of boots and shoes restored here, had some shoes customized for dancing, and had the zipper replaced on an expensive bag my mother purchased in Italy several years ago. All of the work was top quality. Someone comes in and does season window displays for the shop every month or so. Those are a wonderful feature of the community!

Paula, owner of Dumb Clothing, had a small shop on Capitol Hill when the lure of travel called her away. So...the only way to get her great skirts (I sell a few everytime I wear one out) is to register on her site: www.dumbclothing.com and receive an alert when she is in town. Otherwise...you will have to find a way to New York in the Springtime to get the real thing. Paula makes great fun girl skirts...in New York you can actually design it with her in her own shop. The second best part...cost is between $40-$50 per skirt...but you look like you went to Tulip or Barney's in Seattle. My fashion secret is now out.

Nobody else in Seattle gets it like Tulip. They have the best mix of designers by far of any store in town-- Great small designers like Mayle, Annelore, Nicholas K, Mint, Sarah Berman, Rozae Nichols, and a constantly evolving collection of the best denim. If it is up and coming and it is gooood, you know it will be at Tulip.
Sure, like the onther review said, it is not cheap. I'd say prices range from around $30-50 for a tshirt to $125-200 for jeans to $100-300 for a dress. But these are well-made, beautifully designed pieces in fine quality fabrics. If you want cheap, shut up, go to Old Navy, and look just like every one else.
I have found the service to be kind and knowledgeable. They can get a bit overwhelmed on busy tourist days in the summer, as the staff is small, but I've found the help is worth the wait with good suggestions and honest feedback. They seem to know the fit and shapes of things well and can suggest what might look good on you. Great!

I have always had trouble finding pants to fit my 3 yr. old twins, who are on the somewhat short side. They are "between sizes" a lot, not quite big enough for one but too small for another and The Gap has answered my prayers with the "Superlastic" waistband. It has FOUR different button placements inside the waistband so it can be moved accordingly. Baby Gap & Gap Kids may not be the cheapest, but the quality and style is worth the money.
