Most HORRIBLE Experience!! 8/2/2006

As a new person to the Portland area, I wanted to find the best hair salon to get my cut. Since I'm a devoted fan of Citysearch, I took to heart the rave reviews I found here for Ziva and decided to try it out. Pros: Didn't make me pay for ridiculously terrible service. Cons: Worst haircut of my life. All my friends couldn't believe how bad I looked. more

I heart Kristenlee @ Ziva 6/29/2006

Kristenlee has a way with her razor...the razor cut I received was immaculate. She is a true artist who sculpts hair. Her zen attitude and knowledge makes her stand out above the rest. You can rest assured she'll give you the best cut each time. Very thorough. I really enjoyed my scalp treatment as well. Pros: Fun location, nice staff, and extensive product selection Cons: parking-but it's NW 23rd-to be expected. :-) more

Kristenlee is Amazing ! 6/29/2006

I have been seeking out Kristenlee for over 10 years. Her color combinations for me have allowed me to grow gray gracefully and I get compliments everywhere I go from the grocery store to out of town about my color & cuts. One lady in Anaheim California even asked me to be sure and give Kristenlee her telephone number if she ever traveled to that city! more

Best salon in town 6/28/2006

I went to Ziva after a horrible haircut at a different salon. I heard from many of my friends that the stylists at Ziva were the best in town. They were right! My experience there was absolutely amazing. A woman named Crystal cut my hair, and I can say it's the best haircut I've had in years. She really knows what she's doing! The service at the front desk was also outstanding, and it's a plus that this salon carries Bumble and Bumble, my favorite hair product! Two thumbs up for Ziva. Pros: All! more

Best Facial and Hair Removal 6/25/2006

Had my eyebrows done by Jen and was so happy that I treated myself to a facial. Definately the best facial I've ever had! I can't wait to go back and get another. drew is a hair genius 6/20/2006

i have never had a hair stylist i was so excited to see when the opportunity arises. if i could, i would put product in my hair that would make my hair grow faster with the sole purpose of getting more time in the chair. i can see my personality brought out more into the style with every cut of the scissors. i have honestly never had a haircut that really fit ME so well (something that responds to my personality, facial structure, eyes, expressions, life). in addition to having the best run of haircuts that i have ever had in my life, i enjoy my time chatting with drew. he's a music trivia wizard, a beautiful snap shot dancer, and now a good friend. if you have read this far and are not on the phone calling ziva, asking for drew - you've simply got to change your way of thinking. honestly, you wont regret it you can even thank me in your thoughts afterwards for helping me make you look like the best you that could be imagined. Recently stopped into Ziva for hair consult. spoke with Drew who gave me options for my high-maintenance, short, colored hair. happy with the creative input and options, i got booked same day. Drew is a hair angel! quick to realize needs, he textured and toned my short light hair, eliminating brasiness and adding depth. Suggested product for my hair and while informative to benefits, never pushy to buy. Drew loves what he does. Seems genuinely interested in your hair suiting your lifestyle, not just looking great when you leave the salon. He wants to see your hair ""lived-in"" and wants clients to return to adjust anything that isnt jiving with you. I trusted my hair in Drew's hands. Moved to Portland 6 months ago, nice to know i can quit bouncing between mediocre salons and barbershops. Drew is fantastic and makes a gal feel beautiful. Thanks! disappointed 3/28/2006

I went on the recommendation of glowing reviews and was disappointed. Paulino was interrupted half a dozen times during my time by staff wanting consults, to deal with scheduling issues, and to cut another client's hair. At one point he even left the building. At $200 for a cut/semi-permanent wash I'd wish for more attentiveness. And the cut wasn't good. He took a lot of the fullness out of the bottom layer of my wavy/curly hair creating a mushroom effect and a ""shelf"" with the top layer (if you have wavy/curly hair you might know what I'm describing.) I wish there was something positive I could say. The woman before me came out with a stylish short, straight-hair cut, so perhaps this is more his specialty. Unimpressed 3/1/2006

After reading the glowing reviews from the salon I decided to make an appointment. I went in for a haircut and wanted something fun and hip. The service was good. However, the stylist cut too much hair off and I left with a helmut head. This was about 1.5 months ago and it is still growing out. PS, I also thought it was strange that they had flyers all over the salon requesting for you to vote in ""city's best"", good quality stands on its own and does not need to be pushed. more

The Beauty inside... 2/17/2006

My daughter and I have been clients of Paulino's for several years. Our haircuts and color have been nothing but beautiful but it doesn't stop there. Paulino and Joe, the owner, have taken care of us for the entire year while we attempt to get back on our feet from a horrible car accident in Jan.of 2005. Recently, Paulino told me of some difficult issues he was having and I really felt it was time for my daughter and I to move on. With no hesitation he told me that he needed good people like us around him at this time. He told us that he did not want us to leave. I could hardly believe it! They wowed me! 1/26/2006

I went to Ziva for a new hair color and style because my hair needed an update. I have never been so impressed by any salon. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. It is very obvious that they don't try to sell you products to make a sale, they do it to improve the health and overall beauty of your hair. Even if you don't buy a product they love to educate you on them. I had a great time while I was there. They offered me complimentary tea, protien bars, anything to make me feel at home. I have never been one to stick to one stylist, or salon even but I will never go to any other salon other than Ziva from here on out. I suggest you ask for Lindsay as your stylist. She'll be my stylist as long as she's in the buisness! more

Spectacular Results! 1/25/2006

I went in yesterday to try something new with my hair. If only you could see a before and after picture! Spectacular results. I have strangers asking who does my hair. I could not have asked for better results. My hair was over bleached from the last salon I used, so Crystal at Ziva, color corrected it and than used a 3 step damage control system made by Bumble and Bumble!That is a MIRACLE PRODUCT! I thought I would have to shave my head and start over if I ever wanted it to be healthy again. I got the 3 step system for home use!! It is a little more costly than your Wal-Mart shampoo but it is SOOOO worth it if you want noticeably healthier hair! Ziva is my NEW and ONLY salon!! Pros: Service!!!, Product!!!, Atmosphere!!! Best Brazilian I Have Ever Had!!! 1/5/2006

I moved to Portland a year ago from New York. I use to love my salon in New York, and was fearful I would never be able to replace it. After having a few bad experiences trying different salons in Portland, I found Ziva. The staff was very friendly and the store has a ton of great products! Jessica was amazing!!
