I found Brett Packer!!! 8/11/2007

I know how you feel. Brett has been my stylist since he worked at Ziva several years ago and I've followed him to every salon he has moved to. Unfortunately at the beginning of this year he left Zivas once again and since I was desperate to get my hair cut (and because I had no clue where Brett had gone) I made the mistake of having one of the ""senior stylist"" at Ziva cut my hair - big mistake!! I ended up with the worst haircut of my life and with $100 dollars less in my pocket. Since then I have let my hair grow out and luckily found Brett about three weeks ago. He is the best stylist and I will follow him anywhere!! He is working at Chameleon Salon in North Portland ( 7015 N. Greeley Ave). Hope this helps. Pros: Ambience Cons: Costly, bad customer service, unexperienced stylists. more

Miranda Is the BEST Hairstylist I have ever gone to. 7/20/2007

When I saw Miranda She Sat me down offering water, tea and comfort first. She took the time to listen to me recognizing exactly what I was looking for in a beautiful color and cut. She takes the time to give her proffessional recommendations and ideas and at the same time listens to my wants, needs and desires. Miranda is proffessional, warm and friendly. She always greets me with a smile and an uplifting attitude. People everywhere always compliment me on my hair they ask me who does my hair and I always send people her way. I would not go to anyone else and will not go to anyone else. I highly recommend Miranda. Five stars for Miranda Personally!!!!! Cons: Other staff not so friendly, atmosphere kind of cold/dry more

HAPPY HAIR!!! 6/19/2007

Kira Pinski does my hair. I used to be bored with my long hair. I ALWAYS threw it in a ponytail. But, my new bangs and styling options have given me more self confidence and freedom with my hair. After a cut we've done naturally curly, curling iron, flat ironed, blown out straight, and even braids for the gym. I'm excited to see what she thinks of next!! I appreciate her creativity!! Very expensive for what it is.... 6/9/2007

I have paid $200 for a hair and color. The highlights didn't turn out as I wanted and were barely noticeable. The hair cut was done in less then 3 minutes and didn't look much different from what I had before. Basically I paid $200 for damaging my hair and not getting a desired look. I am SO, SO, SO bummed to call Zivas and find out that Brett Packer is no longer working there. He has been doing my hair for seven years, and i have been following him from salon to salon. Where is he??? I saw someone else had posted the same question in February. Did that person find him? If so, can you post where he is on citysearch for me? I am so bummed!! Brett, I don't care where you are, if you could just please let us know (maybe on citysearch) so I can find you again to do my hair, I would be so happy. You are great with color and doing cuts just the way your clients ask. Please come back!!! more

WOW! what a facial! 2/26/2007

I usually treat myself to facials at least once a month. I hadn't found a place I liked until I came to Ziva. They have 2 estheticians and both are equally amazing. My skin has never looked or felt better. I highly recommend treating yourself to one of their facials. Pros: products more

I recently moved to Portland from San Diego and have been looking for a new hair salon. I walked into Ziva thinking it was just a retail store, since the salon has EVERYTHING you could ever want! I asked someone to help me find a curling iron that would work for a style I wanted. To my surprise the girl I asked was a stylist. Instead of just showing me where they were she asked me if I had time for her to actually show me. So she took me back and showed me everything I needed to use to achieve the look I was wanting. Ziva has excellent customer service, they are all so friendly and sweet. I have recommended them to all of my friends. Thank you Ziva for being my new hair salon. Bad cuts and relentless pressure to buy products 2/19/2007

I had two bad experiences at Ziva. I should have know better than to go the second time but I needed to get my hair done quickly and didn't have time to find another salon. Crystal cut and colored my hair both times. The color was overprocessed (I wondered if she forget about me) and the cuts seemed quick and careless. Crystal is a very nice girl but the quality of the service just wasn't worth the price. Also, the staff needs to learn that NO means NO when it comes to purchasing a bunch of products. I didn't like all of the pressure to buy product that I didn't want or need. more

Miranda is Great! 2/7/2007

I am so happy I found Miranda at Ziva Salon! I moved here from San Francisco about 1.5 years ago and tried a few different stylists at a few different places before finding Miranda. She really has the talent to see what kinds of cuts and styles will look good on you, but also to listen to what you want/need. That is important for me as I want a style that is in fashion, but also one that works with my hair and face and lifestyle. She takes the time to talk with you first, look at your hair, and offers her own suggestions on what would look good. And the cuts she have given me are fantastic! She takes her time to make sure they flow and will look good long after you leave the salon. That's also important to me as I want versatility (I might blowdry, flat iron or do nothing, depending on the day and whether it's a work day or the weekend) and I tend not to get my hair cut as often as I should, so the fact that her cuts look great even as they grow out is great. more

Paulino is great!! 2/2/2007

I moved up from San Francisco a few years ago. The thought of finding a great salon that I could trust with my hair was daunting. I have very long curly hair that needs a lot of attention- let's just say some days are more challenging then others. I've also grown up (aged) some in the last couple of years and although I'm a brunette I've been turning a little blonde lately (polite way of acknowledging the white that seems to appear every couple of months). A friend recommended Paulino at Ziva. I have now been a client of his for over 6 years. He's a master with both color and the shears! I honestly can't say enough about his skills; he's extremely knowledgeable, he listens (!), talks me through the process and has been become a vital part of my beauty regimen. I get compliments on my hair all the time! Thanks Paulino! more

Amazing hair cuts and fabulous people 12/29/2006

Well, we've been a fan of head stylist at Ziva salon, the amazing Paulino, for about 7-8 years now. I am one of those busy mom's that maybe gets in for some pampering hair maintenance every 6 months or so. Paulino is the only stylist I've ever been to whose haircuts will grow out so gracefully that you'd never know it'd been 6 months!! He uses the most innovative techiniques taught to him by the front runners in hair design during his many trips to New York. Not only are the cuts fabulous, but his eye for color is impeccable. His color choices are effortless and are amazingly suited to each individual. Anyhow, I just can't say enough about Paulino and the great and friendly staff at Ziva Salon. Pros: Great staff, great stylists Cons: a bit expensive, but worth it more

Greatest hair stylist experience 11/29/2006

I have visited Ziva's on numerous occasions and each time I was greeted, but not harassed, by the front desk people who made it their mission to accomodate me on the stylist's schedule of my choice. Melisa does my hair and I wouldn't trust anyone else to touch it! Melisa supported the syle that I arrived with on my first visit. When I returned she suggested a warmer color and a slightly different style that gave me a younger look. I have had several people compliment both my style and color and I always recommend asking for Melisa at Ziva's. Pros: Easily accessible, Service, Skill, product choice Cons: A smidge pricey, but worth every cent more

Best cut and color ever! 11/27/2006

I went to Ziva and saw Lindsay, she really made me look 10 years younger! I have really thin hair with no life and we discussed what would look best and I went with it. Before I never would get compliments on my hair and now they wont stop! I love it! My husband loves it as well. Ask for Lindsay when you go and you will not be dissapointed. Wonderful receptionist, and hair dresser. I went in unsure of what I wanted with my hair, but after discussion with the hairstylist I decided to try something new. She did a FANTASTIC job, and I have received many compliments since. The staff takes the time to talk with you, and make sure you are satisfied with what you receive.
