A throwback, and not in a good way 7/7/2007

Zia's is stuck in the 50s -- the food as well as the decor. You're not going to get fresh tomatoes or mozzarella or anything remotely subtle here, just a bunch of the old standbys. If you're a big provel fan... and you like your red sauce very sweet... and having your entire meal deep-fried makes you smile... sure, hit Zia's. Comfortable, delicious Italian 8/18/2005

The Hill area of St. Louis boasts a number of fine Italian restaurants. Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola grew up in the neighborhood, which was settled by Italian immigrants. Zia's is a great example of the genre. Not too expensive and not too laid back, it's a comfortable, approachable restaurant where the food is the reason for its success. When you get tired of the pasta chains and their not-bad Italian fare, give Zia's a try for an extensive menu of great Italian dishes. more
