I had heard really good things from others about Zama and when I found out they could bill for PIP (auto accident) I decided to check them out when my regular therapist was out of...

most focused and skilled massage therapest 1/26/2010

Juniper was the perfect therapest because she could feel with her hands, what my back needed. I couldn't stop giving her compliments! Her hands are very strong and her mind is focused on the excellent techniques she uses to give the most therapeutic and relaxing massage ever! more

awesome place! Lisa is the BEST! 1/24/2010

Zama massage is a great, great place to get a massage in Portland. Lisa is an AMAZING therapist - whether for a relaxing massage or to help work on a problem area or an injury. I live 2 hours outside of Portland, but it is well worth it to make the trip to see Lisa at Zama when I want a massage. As an added bonus for those of us who don't live in Portland, Lisa is well versed in the best places to go in the city. I HIGHLY recommend Zama and Lisa! Pros: great massages and relaxing space more

great auto accident work 1/13/2010

I was in a car accident in November. I was rear ended and had some pretty bad whip lash. I had been to Zama before so I came to see Elizabeth after my accident. She suggested a fantastic chiropractor for me and has been working with him to heal my neck and back pain. It's been two months and I'm feeling good as new! Elizabeth listens to what is bothering me and focuses the session that day on those areas. She always makes sure to follow up the next time I come in, and she always gives me stretches and suggests small things that I can change in my daily life to help my back feel better as well. I would highly recommend Elizabeth/ Zama. Pros: STRONG therapists, comfortable atmosphere Cons: books up fast more

Zama is awesome 1/12/2010

I highly recommend going to Zama Massage on NE Broadway. Lynn is great! She has been able to work effectively with my back injuries and her knowledge and practice of Ashiatsu is excellent! If you haven’t been to Zama yet- I recommend checking it out. more

Ahhhhhh... Bliss... 1/7/2010

Recently I've had massages from Lisa and Jarrod. Lisa gave me a great massage with lots of pressure on my back and great techniques that left me loosened up and ready for my evening out. Jarrod gave me a Thai massage that really loosened up my joints and thigh muscles. There was a really great technique he used that opened up my ribs; I was breathing easier than I had in years. I have to say, I'm hooked on these pros. Thanks Jarrod and Lisa! Pros: Online booking 24/7 and quality therapists Cons: By appointment only (probably good I can't just drop in) more

Need to feel better? 1/7/2010

The nice thing about Zama, is that they know what they are doing! I've seen Elizabeth Many times for my serious back pains, and sometimes I can't seem to vocalize where or how I hurt. But she always finds the trouble spots, she seems to be completely in tune with muscles and the needs and pain that people feel from everyday stress. She makes me feel new every time! There is a really cool vibe in every room there, and they always have interesting art displayed throughout the space. Nice people, relaxing space, thumbs up. Pros: Cool vibes, quality relaxation Cons: ..... more

High turnover, snobby 1/5/2010

I've been going to Zama for quite some time until I kept noticing many of my favorite therapists no longer working there. Found Lyn to be condescending. Will not return. Cons: high turnover. snobby more

Excellent Massage 12/26/2009

I had the great pleasure of an hour long Swedish massage with Amy, a licensed massage therapist at Zama in NE Portland. It was so relaxing. She is great; very experienced, and very skillful at creating a calming atmosphere. I loved the aromatherapy oil she used. Pros: Friendly, Relaxed Environment more

AMAZING massage! 12/21/2009

Had my first massage with Lynn. She was amazing! I will be going back again and again. Great deal on gift certificates right now as well: buy 2 get 1 FREE! Thanks so much for your help with my neck/back problems, Lynn. And thanks for recommending the Ashiatsu, it was a life saver! Pros: relaxing, friendly, great specials! Cons: parking is street only more

AWESOME!!! We will be back 12/21/2009

My fiance and I went and had a couples massage. It was his first massage ever. The staff were prompt and knowledgeable. I've had many massages over the years and Ambert has very skilled hands. 1 thing I've noticed at other places that I didn't notice here was the massage was excatly the same on both sides of my body. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about if you've ever had that happen. They use a technique/stroke that is really good, but don't do that same technique on the other side. I will be back. Pros: Location, staff, hours, prices Cons: parking more

Excellent place for a massage 12/6/2009

Healing atmosphere. Jarrod Morrow is terrific and highly skilled. Pros: Flexible, easy to schedule, fair price Cons: None more

A true gem 11/25/2009

My masseuse of a few years quit to have a family. I was worried about finding someone who was willing/able to do as deep massage as I need (athlete). I have been to both Elizabeth and Lynn and think they are both great. I now just see Lynn because she does ashiatsu (massage with her feet). If you want a REALLY deep massage, ashiatsu is the way to go! Pros: Lots of different types of massage and therapists to choose Cons: Street parking only & front is 30-min parking only more

Unbeatable 11/18/2009

*Better than Dosha, Coldwater Creek, Salishan *Super-Convenient Web Scheduling *Phenomenal, skilled therapists *Awesome Variety of Massage Styles* Pros: web scheduling, ashiatsu, thai, hot stone Cons: no soaking tub more

Great Massages 11/3/2009

I've been to Zama twice now. First time I had the hot stone massage, it was wonderful and Ambert was excellent. I actually fell asleep! Just went back and fell in love Jarod! The deep tissue massage was excellent and Jarod is very informative and knowledgable on many levels not just on massage. I'll return again and again for both! They have my continued business! Pros: Wonderful people Cons: hard to locate more

very thoughtful and great massage 10/27/2009

1st time in and had a good massage. 60 minute deep tissue. I had a back injury and they were very careful with my back and and made the experience very relaxing and enjoyable. I will go back soon! more

amazing, professional therapist who really listens 10/21/2009

I was in a car accident in June 2009, and I have been getting treated by Elizabeth at Zama since then. I have had many massages before, but none of them compare to the treatments that I consistently get from Elizabeth. She is warm, professional, and clearly very knowledgeable about massage therapy. In addition to seeing her for my motor vehicle accident injury, I have also seen her for some pain I was experiencing in my leg from running (which I'm happy to say is now healed). Elizabeth listens carefully when I describe the pain I'm experiencing, and then she always seems able to quickly identify the source of the pain and treat it accordingly. She is able to be both gentle and firm, thorough and comprehensive, and it feels like she always spends just the right amount of time on each muscle. She often recommends stretches that I can do at home, which shows me that she cares about my well-being even after I've left Zama. I recommend her wholeheartedly--you will not be disappointed! more

A Killer Massage! 10/17/2009

Had Ambert give me a massage in an attempt to help out some seriously fatigued muscles from moving. I've gotta say that he did a fantastic job and I'm feeling 100% better. You gotta bet I'll be back here next time I'm down! Thanks Ambert! Pros: Just an all-around awesome massage! Cons: None! more

WoW! 10/14/2009

I had pain from my neck down through my shoulders from sleeping wrong and searched the internet to find someone to give me a massage. I happened on Zama Massage and got a massage from KAT which ended up being the BEST massage I have ever gotten. She used techniques that I haven't felt before and I had relief afterwards. I'm planning on budgeting this into my monthly routine because it was soo worth it! Thank you! more

Lynn is Incredible! 10/3/2009

I have scoliosis and as a result suffer from chronic back pain. I gave up on massage a few years ago because I could never find anyone who could deliver the kind of deep and intense therapy that my back needs. Lynn is able to deliver a very deep massage in a very controlled and therapeutic manner through the Ashiatsu techniques she has mastered. She is also able to create traction throughout the spine as she works, lengthening and stretching it as she works. If you have scoliosis or chronic muscle issues, or are an athlete that is tired of weak massages, Lynn will deliver. Pros: Best massage I have ever had. Cons: Should have gone years ago. more

Sarah Holder's healing hands 7/16/2009

Sarah always provides an extremely congenial comfortable atmoshphere. I have so far received three massages from her and each time I find myself impressed with her mindful grace and synchronicity. She allows you to fully resign yourself and enjoy a truly worthwhile restorative experience. more
