Yorkville Pastry Shop

Yorkville Pastry Shop is a place I remember well since childhood as well as, my mother remembering from childhood as she grew up in Yorkville and I visited my grandparents/aunts/uncles and cousin there. I remember my grandmother always made her own bread every day, but when she had a house full, my grandfather would walk down the street to the Yorkville Pastry Shop early in the morning for extra loaves of great Italian bread, I could hardly tell the difference from my grandmother's own Italian bread! Sometimes, I'd get up extra early and go with my grandfather and he'd let me pick out something I loved, their creme horns............and I'd get an extra for my mother. Yorkville and the Yorkville Pastry Shop will always be in my life's memories...........and I still go by whenever I am in that part of the country, just for the Yorkville Pastry Shop............all the way from Arizona! more

When you step inside the Yorkville Pastry Shop you will be immediately thrown back into a time warp. They still sell pastries, cookies, brownies and other treats straight from the huge antique glass cabinets. They have the most outstanding Italian bread I've ever eaten and if you call ahead early in the morning you can have them set aside bags of bread dough to take home and do what you please with it. I used to order the dough to make my own callazones and pepperoni rolls. Do make a stop here. Well worth it! more
