Yoga Vida

When I first started at Yoga Vida, I had no idea how much it and it's teachers would be apart of a life changing transformation. Yoga Vida has great teachers that know the practice. The special part is the way they align the practice with spiritual growth. Yoga Vida has a wonderful sense of community and fun! I was so inspired by this place that I went on to become a yoga teacher myself! more

I have been practicing yoga at Yoga Vida for over 10 years. I can't say enough good things about this studio and the teachers. It is locally owned and all the teachers are excellent. The atmosphere is very welcoming for any level of yoga practitioner. more

I have been going to Yoga Vida off and on for about a year now and love this studio. This is the first heated studio I have gone to and, although I thought I would be distracted or annoyed by the heat, I've found that it helps me to be even more flexible and able to be deeper into my practice. It's also a great detoxing experience and actually helps me to be less hot in the Texas summer heat than I am when sitting in A/C all day. One instructor explained that the hot yoga heats up your core, allowing your extremities to be cooler and less reactive to the outside temperature. Not sure of the science on that, but it certainly seems to work that way! more

As far as hot yoga goes, Yoga Vida is it. The staff is amazing and the classes are always full (for a good reason!). They only have one studio, but it's expansive and very inviting. Yoga Vida has a really welcoming feel to it. It's a little hard to find because it's tucked away in a corner off of Bee Caves Rd, but once you go, you'll know why everyone just loves this place. I came to Yoga Vida with no prior yoga experience. There are all levels of yogis in the classes, and each one of us gets a full and totally challenging practice at each class. I have taken classes with all the instructors, and they are uniformly supportive, challenging, instructional and attentive to the needs of the class, whether there are 5 or 50 students in the class. I do not know how the instructors sense the varying skill levels of the students in the class, but they always seem to know the very best way to challenge everyone from the beginners to the most experienced. When you practice at Yoga Vida, you become a member of a family, with all the support and acceptance that you would want from your own family. I have tried some other studios, and determined long ago that had I started anywhere other than Yoga Vida, I would not have continued in my practice. That is not to take anything away from other studios, but to accent the fact that Yoga Vida is a unique experience that will change your life, whether you are a beginner or an accomplished yogi. 5 stars is not enough. more

Yoga Vida is the best best yoga studio you will find. Teachers are kind and challenge you and are friends. Each of the teachers have a journey and a wisdom to share. It's a beautiful community of people who want to be their best and want you to be and feel your best. This studio is not about championships or competing with your neighbor. It's about being your best and helping others be their best, but silently. more

I went into Yoga Vida not being able to touch my toes with back problems and a little extra weight on me. It's only five weeks later my life has seriously transformed. I now practice at yoga vida about five times a week. I've lost my back problems and 10 lbs, but the weight doesn't even matter, it's how amazing this place and its teachers make you feel. I can not emphasize how WONDERFUL the teachers here are. Just the epitome of peace and encouragement. They made me feel so at ease that first day and that's what got me through that class. While the classes are large, the teachers have a way of making you feel like they're speaking directly to you. I am no where near perfect (or even good!) at yoga, but apparently nobody ever is. I love Yoga Vida, it's my peaceful place a way from home, my career and my life. If you're a first-timer it will change your life, if your an experienced Yogi it'll change your life!!! Really accomplished teachers who ""get it,"" and guide your practice in both physical and more subtle ways with integrity . This school's sessions give a great workout, build strength and endurance and increase flexibility. I am a yoga student since 1970 and have practiced at Yoga Vida for 9 years. This is a really good school for both experienced and inexperienced students. I have witnessed many positive changes in myself and many other students. Highly recommended. Pros: Instructors, community of students, styles of practice. Cons: Occasionally can be crowded. more

I have been going to yoga vida for several months now. I am in love with the studio and the work out it provides me! However, Dean (as nice and amazing as he may be) does not provide a good work out and is way ""showy"" and talkative for my taste (and a few other yogi's from what I gather). This is hard because he does a lot of the teaching, it is his studio. He just appears to show-off and talk more then instruct and teach. Other then this, Yoga Vida ROCKS! Pros: Great work out! Cons: Dean...talks and shows off! more
