A Great Way To Kick Off My 30's 2/1/2011

As a redhead, taking care of my fair skin has been a lifelong process. And even at 30, I sometimes struggle with acne like I had at 15 - in addition to annoying combination skin issues (my chin can be dry and flakey even as I'm fighting off blackheads two inches north on my nose.) So when I went to Yasmine Djerradine for one of her signature facials, I was hoping to experience something promising (and hopefully lasting) in terms of caring for my skin in this new decade of my life. I've had lots of facials over the years - many of which have been in NYC, so "quality" has always been a part of the experience. But I have to say, the facials I've had at this spa (two now) have been the best, the most thorough, and the most agreeable to my sometimes disagreeable skin. Yasmine herself worked on me, applying some sort of mask that literally felt tingly and stimulating for my skin, as well as gently extracting all of my blackheads, and hydrating my face (especially my historically dry chin) that lasted well after the facial. It's always been business as usual with the same dryness / blackhead issues within days of other facials I've received in the past. But instead of dealing with the usual combo skin a week later, my face was clear, soft, hydrated and glowing. Since then, I've had one other facial from Yasmine and my skin has never looked better. Her spa also carries many different products - I purchased the P50 exfoliating solution after the first facial (which I've been using ever since, and my blackheads are now much more controlled) and the spot treatment Drying Lotion after my second session, in order to deal with pimples during my cycle. I feel fortunate to have discovered this spa just as I've entered my 30's - I've never felt so good! Definitely pay Yasmine a visit if you're looking to have the healthiest possible experience in your own skin. more

Nice Space but Not Accommodating 12/21/2010

It's possible that I just have higher standard for spa's than other people, but I found the customer service at this place to be rushed and completely unaccommodating. I came here twice for bikini wax with Karen. Apparently she is the only person who does waxing here and is completely booked ALL of the time. Some may say that speaks wonders for their services, but I'm not sure - maybe it's just a convenient location for most of their patrons. Either way, when I called to make my appointment she had no availability for nearly 3 weeks (so don't count on any emergency hair removal at this place - last minute beach excursion planned? eh, try again). Then, after waiting 3 weeks, the technician called in sick the morning of my appointment and they called me to reschedule. When is her next availability? Not for another 2 weeks. Great. On the review before mine it says something about options for different types of wax, I wasn't offered anything like that (I suspect this is an "in-house" review ayways....). She did a good job with my wax, so I won't complain there, but I can't say it was the best waxing experience ever (and not worth the wait). Similar experience with my follow-up appointment, only this time I needed to reschedule and this time only appointment was 2 weeks away and in the middle of a week day. After my second appointment the women behind the counter were more interested in chatting with each other than checking me out - and when one of them saw me standing there she says "I thought you were done" as if I was being some sort of nuisance. No thanks, I'll continue to go to Euphoria Spa in Greenwich Village - they're cheaper, nicer, and honestly the wax job hurts a lot less. more

  • The Space
First-time clients to Yasmine Djerradine may be startled to find what appears to be a Moroccan oasis in midtown. Pink-hued walls, a pillow-laden reception area and an imported limestone fountain filled daily with fresh flowers recall the French and North African background of Djerradine herself. Treatment rooms are well-sized and equipped with cutting-edge industry machinery.

    The Services
Trained in pre- and post-surgical care, Djerradine works closely with dermatologists and plastic surgeons in developing services and treating clients. Along with her expert staff, she offers effective, quality treatments ranging from cleansing and oxygen facials, body massages and seaweed wraps to more unusual services like scar-tissue therapy, reiki, electro acupuncture facials and lyphodermie leg therapy. The popular Jet Lag Treatment involves the application of an effervescent volcanic mud along the spine, followed by a wrap and massage. Hair removal is with a choice of French Green Azulene, low-temperature Blue or Amber wax.
