Rude 2/3/2013

1st visit to The Yarn Barn: I walked in and inquired about Noro Yarn (my absolute favorite) and received the response in an unnerving loud rude tone "Um, we WON'T and DON'T deal with Noro, the distributor is difficult and they don't care." A simple "sorry, we don't carry Noro but let me show you some comparable yarns" would have sufficed. I went on to buy a skein of sale yarn and, without asking, was abruptly told that they would not wind the skein because it was sale ($2 off of >$25) 2nd visit: In an upbeat attitude, I asked if the sales rep (same rep as the first trip) to point me in the direction of their supply of sock yarns. She assisted me by showing me the area as well as what each brand had to offer. I was thrilled that she wasn't obtuse and rude this time around and thrilled that I was on my way to my new project. Once she was done, I told her that I didn't need to be shown the books or patterns, but asked her if she could recommend the title of a good book for a novice sock knitter. She took me to the book section and went over many different options. I selected my items and checked out. Upon leaving, I notice the same sales rep sitting with another working on, what I believe to be inventory. I waved goodbye to them and told them to have a nice night. I was on a knitting high! The other rep responded “I’m sorry, if you didn’t get full attention tonight” and I responded, “no worries, she helped me a lot with finding what I needed” (motioning to the sales rep that helped me that was sitting next to her). I hear that woman say to the other woman in a loud rude voice “that’s FOR SURE!” It truly hurt my heart. I never asked her to spend a bunch of time with me, mainly just location guidance. I felt like I had really put her out. It was that same nastiness I received from the first visit. After spending a rather large amount of money in their store and then a comment insinuating that I had consumed too much of her time, was just a stab in the back. more

extremely poor customer service 10/25/2010

Good: It appeared to be a well lit store and the classroom was in the front which would make it seem like there would be good lighting. Bad: The clerk was rude and wouldn't let me past the entry because I arrived for a class with a bottle of Dt. Pepsi. All she kept saying was I couldn't bring it in because of their carpet - they didn't want anything spilled on it. Do they make people with wet or slushy shoes take them off so they don't mess up their carpet? Since she wouldn't let me come in, I then asked for my money back which she said that I'd needed to cancel 3 days prior to the class. At this point I left.. Improvements: MUCH better customer service. Other: They did refund my class fee that I had paid after I wrote them explaining all that happened. more

Yarn Barn is Stocked Well 10/19/2005

This is a great place for any one interested in anything needle work. Knitting, Crocheting, Embroidery, whatever your interests they will have the supplies to start you off, even classes if you cant learn on your own. There is an incredible selection of different types of yarn and string, though the finer yarn can get pretty pricey. Overall, a fine place for anything sewing/needlework. more

I love to knit and when I'm in need of materials..such as yarn..i just head down to the yarn barn. They have a great selection and a good location. Parking is somewhat of a pain. With the location being downtown and all. The staff is very friendly and knowlegable. They can help with just about any needle work project. The prices seem pretty average too more

yarn-tastic 8/6/2005

I frequently have to go pick up yarn orders downtown for my mother and they are almost always from the yarn barn. Even though I'm just a high school student, I am treated like a regular customer each and every time. I've never knitted or stitched once in my life, but they are still friendly to me. They have high tech spinners and cool yarn things that I don't know what they do, but it seems much more advanced than other yarn shops aroudn town. They have tons and tons of colors of yarn to pick from. I see why my mom loves the place. more

What a great selection! 6/19/2005

This a great place for beginners and experienced needleworkers, knitters, and crafters. They have a friendly staff that will help you find exactly what you are looking for. What a great selection, they have every color under the sun, and in every size and quanitity. A little pricey, but worth it for the great products! They also offer classes for those interested! more
