I've been to this restaurant three times, each time hoping that my last was just a fluke. Nope. I sat at the bar and got attitude from the bartender when ordering a Martini. Sh...

Yard House in Irvine 7/22/2010

The bar at Yardhouse is a gargantuan island situated in the middle of the restaurant. That’s a good note to start a restaurant review on, isn’t it? The beer selection here is mind-numbingly awesome, with page-upon-page devoted to it in the menu. Servers know to leave at least one menu at the table in case diners want re-strategize their selections. Speaking of the menu, ordering at the Yardhouse is a pretty safe bet. I have never had anything here that I didn’t love. For this occasion I decided on the ahi salad, and Dave sided with a soup and sandwich lunch special. So, let’s start with my salad. We’ve got a nice plate of crisp, verdant greens. Lots of great texture here, it’s all very crispy and wet. Fresh is the word that keeps popping into my mind. The Ahi itself is stunning. These are thinly-sliced little jewels of goodness. They have a deep ruby color, and the outside has a generous coating of spices and seasonings. The flavor is mild and delicate, as good Tuna should be. Overall, the fish and salad come together to make for a very light, satisfying lunch. The dressing is a soy-based, vaguely Asian-tasting invention that would work in a lot of dishes. Dave’s sandwich was a crab cake hoagie, with bacon and crusty bread. Accompanying it was a cup of hot clam chowder. The sandwich was crisp and flaky from the bread, which balanced the richness of the crab cake nicely. Bacon just makes everything taste better. Overall, Yardhouse provides an open, inviting place to eat with a great selection of beers and a diverse menu. It’s one of my favorite restaurants. more

LOVE THE RIBEYE! 8/30/2005

They tout the largest collection of beers...and I must agree! But I'm crazy about their Rib Eye steaks! I've gone there a dozen times, and each time, had the Rib Eye. They've cooked it to perfection each time, and the seasonings and the butter on top makes it worth driving 45 miles (one way! each time! more

Excellent Food 8/21/2005

The food is excellent, but a bit on the pricey side, especially for lunch. I recommend the Seared Ahi Tuna Ceasar, the clam chowder, and the banana/chocolate dessert (heaven!). Try heading there for one of the best happy hours; hundreds of types of beer and some pretty fantastic martinis too. Relaxed and fun atmosphere. more

it all depends on when you go and what you want. 8/21/2005

yard house has 100s of beer on tap. which is great if you are a beer snob, like myself. i also like the food, which is sort of asian fusion. seared ahi salad and sandwich are good. the lettuce wraps are tasty. i've had some of the more expensive entrees, fish stuff which was tasty as well. if you want to go for the bar scene, go later in the evening or when there are big sporting events. if you want to just eat and enjoy yourself, avoid these times. it becomes a weird combination of overdressed orange county bar scenesters and families trying to eat their calamari. more

Tasty and Fun! 8/13/2005

I Love this restaurant!!!!! I always tell myself I should try new things since everything looks so good, but I always end up getting the chicken lettuce wraps and the asian chicken with jasmine rice. The lettuce wraps come with three different sauces (all are delicious) and the chicken comes in a large tostada shell that we always end up eating too! The kids menu here is decently priced, and the kids get dessert with it as well, which is somewhat rare at restaurants anymore. Though it can be loud here since they are also a bar, the atmosphere is really fun, and I always have a great time! more
