I was recommended the 2nd Avenue Yann Varin Hair Salon by a friend and I loved it.I recently had a great cut without spending an exhorbitant amount of money. The salon is very clean, professional and yet it has a friendly atmosphere. I am now a regular for weekend blowouts. I would highly recommend this salon. more

Amazing Salon! 7/16/2009

I cannot say enough about the amazing Yann Varin Salon on 2nd Avenue. I have worked in the fashion industry for many years and have tried many trendy salons, but was never really satisfied. My sister, knowing how picky I am, raved about this Salon, so I thought I’d give it a try. She did not let me down. I loved the clean, sophisticated, yet down-to-earth atmosphere. The service was outstanding. The very personable and friendly staff makes you feel right at home. Most importantly, I love my hair!!! It was the best cut and color I have gotten in years. It has taken me a long time but I think I’ve found my salon. Highly recommended. more

Wonderful Neighborhood Salon 6/24/2009

I have been going to Yann Varin Salon on 73rd Street for several years and have been consistently pleased with my hair. At my first meeting with Yann, he provided a free consultation and suggested three possible approaches within minutes. He is very creative, professional and friendly. Recently, I tried Amy for my cuts and have been delighted with her approach and skills. I trust my color to the talented hands of Teresa who has transformed my hair with fantastic, natural highlights and monthly maintenance. Visit the salon soon! I finally found my salon, Yann Varin 3/4/2009

I work for Vogue magazine and have lived in New York for over 4 years, but have never been able to find a salon and stylist that I liked. A friend of mine suggested Yann Varin and since then I have never been able to go anywhere else. I found an atmosphere that is friendly, extremely attentive to detail, and multi-lingual. I love the fact that you never feel rushed and they always make time to add a deep conditioner to your hair treatment if need be. I have curly and unruly hair so it is easy to set yourself up for disappointment, but I have never been let down. I finally found a place that I love and understands my hair!! Brazilian Hair Treatment is a new TREND!!! 10/8/2008

So it has been about two weeks since I got a Brazilian Hair Treatment from Brenda at Yann Varin's, and I had to write a little something about my experience. I heard about the Keratin style treatment instead of the Japanese straightening and was referred to Brenda by a friend. I have to say, Brenda definitely did an amazing job on my hair! She knows what she is doing and worked wonders on me!! I mean, my hair was sooo frizzy, and sometimes looking dry (depending on the weather) that I didn?t know what to do with it. I was reluctant at first since I haven?t seen many people with this treatment, but I can?t explain how extremely happy I am with the outcome! My curls are now pretty amazing. I can blow-dry my hair in like 5 minutes and it falls just how I want it every time! There?s absolute no frizz!!!!!!!!!! Curly or straight, my hair is silky and shiny. I definitely would like to recommend Brenda to anyone who is reading this. Brenda, thanks for a new beautiful me!!! more

Hair salon 8/18/2008

I was recommended to this small but charming salon by a friend in Wash DC. The front desk staff are polite and multi-languaged. I had a very nice and talent colorist attend me. He did a great job, ( he's a little eccentric) but to date the best I've had color my hair. I recommend the salon and Raymond, he's the colorist. I enjoyed the whole affair while there. more

Excellent 8/4/2008

It has now been three times that I trust them with my most important accessory, my hair, and it keeps getting better every time! My hair is the best shape ever. The color is vibrant while the cut grows very nicely. My visits have always been very enjoyable, the shampoo is great, the staff is knowledgeable and delivers on the promise, the manager efficient. The salon is quite large for the neighborhood (a breath of fresh air), clean and on time. Thank you for taking such good care of me! Cons: Mani & Pedi only on the week-ends more

Nice space, nice staff, great hair What else can you ask for? Oh yes? it?s very reasonable I had come to Yann Varin before to buy products, they carry Kerastase, but now I trust them with my locks. I have been a regular since the summer when their colorist fixed a bad dye job from a supposedly reputable Madison avenue salon? Try it and you?ll get hooked! Pros: Open every day more

Reasonable priced highlights! 11/15/2006

I have been searching for the past 3 years in New York for reasonable priced highlights that were well done. Here is the place to get them! It was my first time here and I was happy that she listened to what I wanted and did a professional job. They are not the best highlights I've ever had, but for the price it is reasonable and I think the next time she will know my hair a bit better. I highly recommend! more

I moved here 2 years ago from Boston. After trying all my friends' salons my locks were still not happy. It was either too expensive or too sloppy. It was time for me to use Citysearch. Best Experience in a Salon Ever!!!! 5/26/2006

I have been to so many salons and have had bad experiences in the past. One day, I walked by this salon and decided to give it a try. Although they were busy, they were more than willing to accomodate me. The staff was friendly and very approachable. I had previously gotten highlights at another salon and was extremely dissatisfied. Their colorist was great and easily fixed my color. May as well go to Supercuts 4/21/2006

I had called Yann Varin's other location to make an appointment for the upcoming weekend and was given an appointment at the 2nd avenue location. When I showed up they did not have my appointment and I ushered off to someone whom I'm pretty sure was an unliscensed trainee. My shampoo was a rush job as was the cut, I now have crooked bangs that I am waiting for to grow out. During my blowdry, the power kept going out. 3 staff members worked on my hair which made me feel pressure to have to give them all tips, which I shouldn't have. This made it my 2nd bad expeience at Yann Varin, both locations are a dissapointment. A $20 cut from Supercuts could have got the job done. more

Pleasantly surprised 1/19/2006

After paying high prices at Madison Avenue salons I was thrilled to find Yann Varin. Wonderful highlights - and my roots got done at the same time as the highlights - no double sitting with product on your hair. Great hair cuts as well - I've been back several times - Don't worry if you cannot remember names- they remember who did you hair. Pros: wonderful service, friendly employees more
