Yakima Fruit Market 10/29/2007

This place is a gold mine if you like to garden or like fresh fruits and veggies! The prices are about half the price of grocery stores and nurseries, everything is fresh and healthy, it is rarely crowded and the selection is great. We bought our pumkins over the weekend and were reminded of how much we like this 'store'. :)) They close during the winter months, except for the sale of Christmas trees and wreaths in December. I believe they open up again in late March or early April--a very happy day. more

Fresh Fruit from Yakima 3/17/2006

In an outdoor style farmers market, Yakima Fruit Market is the best place to find fresh fruit and vegetables between March and October. Don't be scared away by the Bigfoot that greets you as you enter the covered area. He is friendly and as my child keeps pointing out, he is not real. We like going there for our Halloween pumpkins as well as for their wonderful fruit and veggies. Pricing isn't too unreasonable. Just be careful pulling out of the parking lot. more

Good seasonal fruit stand 11/25/2005

This long time Bothell establishment is a great place to buy your produce. I think they close around 10-15 or so, but they have fruit, vegs, plants, cut flowers, nuts, organic stuff, from our (hopefully) local farmers. There are plenty of staff around replentishing items to ask qustions. They sell Xmas trees in December. I've gon here for many years, I load up a couple boxes of stuff, its inexpensive, they have music playing, and I feel better buying it this way VS grocer, as I'm hoping that I'm geting much fresher food, and if I'm supporting my local farmer that's wonderful. more

produce market in Bothell 8/17/2005

Open seasonally, the Yakima market is, of course, not in Yakima. The name refers to the source (at least early on) of its fruits and vegetables. As you'd expect, everything available comes from local farmers and, as a result, the market is only open seasonally. A nursery is an appendage which, while not having as large a selection as larger businesses, is worth checking out nonetheless. A local (very local) institution worth supporting, especially if you don't belong to an organic-box service. more
