A lot of people think that the city museum is fun for adults. I think its a lot of money for admission and not a lot to do in there. It seems like a great place for kids, though...

Funky, Fun Museum 9/11/2006

Located in Saint Louis, MO...is a really unique and fun museum. Housed in the 600,000 square-foot former International Shoe Company, the museum is an eclectic mixture of children's playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects. One of the great features of the museum is the hands on art areas for kids. While this museum is somewhat "kid focused" it is really something for adults to see as well. It isn't large, so you don't have to allow an entire day for a visit. more

For the young-at-heart 4/13/2006

If you've ever wanted to climb in that ball pit with the kids, or jump on the giant slide, only to be foiled by the attendant next to the 'kids only' sign, this is the place for you. Kids and adults are allowed on the slides, ball pits, tunnels and ladders. The tunnels will fit a small-to average adults, although if you're tall or broad you might not be able to get into all of the play areas. There are also alternative walkways for those who are not so keen on climbing and sliding. Watch out for unsupervised kids, though, as there are usually a few cutting in line, jumping on slides before the landing area is cleared, and picking on smaller kids in the ball pit. While there are a few attendants around, they don't usually step in unless someone's going to get hurt, so watch your kids if you don't want them to get bullied. more

Not so fun for Adults 4/3/2006

A lot of people think that the city museum is fun for adults. I think its a lot of money for admission and not a lot to do in there. It seems like a great place for kids, though. Plus, as others have said, it can be dangerous with broken edges on slides and such. What’s fun for adults though is the Cabin in the City. They usually have live music and a bonfire if its colder out. more

Small but very cool place 3/24/2006

This is not the largest aquarium that you will ever be in, but it is a nicely sized place to take your kids when you are looking for something new and fun to do. It is not too expensive to get into, and they do have some really cool exhibits and marine life that your children will be fascinated by. They also have some other, non-marine animals to add to the fun. The price to get in is not too bad; maybe a bit expensive, but this is not the type of place that you are going to visit a lot of times, so pay the fee and experience the aquarium at least once. more

Overpriced and downright dangerous 10/20/2005

For almost a hundred dollars my family went through the City Museum. Several of the tanks were empty, the slide was dangerous (one got hurt) and the big sliding ramps upstairs caused many injuries while we were there. Skip this one. more

City Museum 9/26/2005

My kids love visiting the City Museum they have so much for them to do and see. One of the favorites is the slides. They have tons of them and don't think that the little ones are the only ones who like them you are bound to see a lot of the grown ups playing too.I did feel like it was a little pricey at $12.00 a person, but definitely well worth it. more

Not just for kids 9/22/2005

The City Museum is a great place for anyone who is adventurous and likes to explore. My favorite part was the outdoor climbing structure. It can be a little nerve wracking at times, but you definitely feel a sense of accomplishment when you get to the top. Another highlight is the carnival like room on the top floor. It's a nice place to stop and have a soda. Entering the caves costs a few dollars extra, but it's definitely something to try. We spent at least two hours exploring all the different areas and trying to find new areas in the cave. I think this would be a great place to take a date if you are both fun loving people. more

An Interesting Museum 8/20/2005

The City Museum of Saint Louis is indeed a rare find. It's filled with strange architecture and old items from years ago. It's a great place to take children because the museum is full of steel architecture for climbing and it's even encouraged. However, kids aren't the only ones climbing at the museum. If you're an adult and you're not afraid of heights or weigh too much to fit through the architecture, then you're more than welcome to start climbing through the mazes too. This is a strange, but interesting museum. more

City Musuem in Downtown 8/19/2005

The city musuem in downtown st. louis is a great place for kids and adults alike. Kids can run, jump, and play on many levels of activities ranging from slides to rollers from the old manufacturing company that used to inhabit this building, while adults can head here for movies, drinks, and receptions. I have had the pleasure to attend both with and without kids and each time it was a blast. Highly advise visitors to St. Louis to make a stop here. more

This relatively new St. Louis landmark takes the concept of a museum and puts it on its ear. Creativity abounds at City Museum, and the experience is one that kids and adults love. No “don’t touch this” signs here – the museum is amazingly interactive, a maze of wonderfully intriguing exhibits and displays. more

Unique gem in the city! 8/19/2005

This is a cool place to go with the kids. They have a variety of exhibits, plus a new "world aquarium" that houses multiple sea creatures. The exhibits are very different than your typical museums that you might visit. I guarantee you'll learn at least five new things when you visit here, if not more! It's fairly cheap too--only $12 for an admission ticket. If you want to visit the aquarium though, you have to fork over another $6, so that makes it a bit more pricey. It's in a not so great part of the city, but that's the only negative and if you visit during the day you should be fine. more

Not what you would expect 8/17/2005

While the City Museum does in fact have some rather museum-like aspects to it, it is definitely best known for its very large jungle gym type structure for overgrown kids. This makes it rather an unusual museum experience, but it is an interesting one nonetheless. One of the random and unexpected entertainment gems of St. Louis. more

A Giant Playground 8/17/2005

The city museum is a “museum” for the people who can’t sit still and have to touch everything. The outside of the museum is a giant play structure complete with airplane shells and walkways for climbing and walking all around in every direction. And if you get tired, just flop down in the ball pit and try to avoid being in the middle of a basketball game! more

best place for the whole family 8/11/2005

This is the best place for you to take the family on a rainy day. It has soo many cool things to do you will love it. My kids think it is the neatest place. It is in the heart of the city and has parking pretty close. Yo uacn get sometyhing to eat and just have a great family day out.So head down to the city museum and have a great time more

This is soo neat to have a place like this in the heart of Saint Louis City. It does cost to get in but well worth every cent. My kids just love it. Even being a parent it was fun and exciting. So get off the couch and head to there and learn something new. It is very easy to get to friendly staff on hand to help with questions and very clean more

Perfect Place for Family Fun 8/4/2005

As soon as you walk into the City Museum you see slides, slides and more slides! It's a wonderful museum that has something to keep your children busy both physically and mentally. There are caves to climb through, ballpits to swim through, crafts to make and they've recently added the St. Louis Aquarium to it's venue. When we were there, they let the kids make a clay jewelry box to take home and there was a special "circus" exhibit with a one ring circus. I was a little worried about the security for the children, but everything was well controlled and I soon had no concerns. My husband and I enjoyed sliding down the slides, walking through the Enchanted Caves and acting like kids ourselves for the day. Be prepared to spend the entire day or a big chunk of it there. more

Everybody loves it 7/22/2005

I have never met a kid who didn't like this place. What a great time for eveyone. My aunt and uncle love taking their grand kids there because everyone has a great time. I wish it was closer to my house I would go more often. The onyl downside is it can get very crowded when it rains and then it's not much fun. more

The City Museum is fun for the whole family 7/18/2005

The City Museum in St Louis is a very cool place to go . Not only are their tons of educational exhibits that explain things and tell stories, there is a ton of things to look at and do. It has a really cool outdoor climbing area that anyone can try but it is hard to do let me tell you that now.It also a amazing indoor tree house that kids and adults a like can climb into and run around and play in. There is an area set a side that kids can do for skateboarding in and so many other things Kids of all ages LOVE IT more
