Best

We""ve loved this place (on Washington) since it first opened.... breakfast, lunch and dinner are all great. I can't even begin to pick out a favorite dish, but the veggie burgers...

Worst

Every time I leave this nice restaurant, I'm disapointed. Today it was for breakfast and I found the 2 egg white omlette with spinach and chesse to be extermely dry and tasteless...

Good Food! 2/23/2012

I visited Wishbone Restaurant last week. It was a good day for me. It was lunch break and I decided to go and eat there. The food were good and their service was good too. I'll be back to eat there again. more

WAITRESS LOST MY DEBIT CARD 3/15/2011

The waitress LOST MY DEBIT card after she charged it and brought me a receipt to sign and no card. Said someone hit her arm and maybe it flew out...really?? They said, ""sorry, we'll call you if we find it."" Um, it's not an umbrella, it's a debit card!! And, a call was the only thing they offered. I'd better get busy changing card numbers everywhere it's registered.....thanks, Wishbone! more

The worst! 8/28/2008

Wishbone is awful. We always have problems when we come here. The menu is bland and mediocre across the board. The dishes usually come cold and our orders are always mixed up or missing something. I'm writing this after just opening our take out bag and seeing that they messed up two of four entrees and completely forgot to give us our fifth. The only reason we still frequent this dump is because my wife has an illogical emotional attachment to it because it was one of the first places she ate at when she first came to Chicago. I'd rather eat Boston Market when I have a craving for ""comfort food."" The only comfort about Wishbone is on their end... shoddy service, an unimaginitve menu and bad art. A perfect example of a resturant stretching themselves too thin. This place REALLY is lousy! Cons: Bland cold food, bad service, bad art more

Nice, but.... 7/24/2008

Every time I leave this nice restaurant, I'm disapointed. Today it was for breakfast and I found the 2 egg white omlette with spinach and chesse to be extermely dry and tasteless. The potatoes which came with the dish were also dry, dry, dry. The only item that was normal was the wheat toast. I had to flag down our wait person-- and it wasn't at all busy-- for a check after waiting for more than 15 minutes while my friend and I sat there. She wasn't a nice nor friendly person; she seemed to be frantic. Why? who knows. This should be a lesson to me to stop giving this place another chance-- there are better places. Pros: Easy for breakfast, lunch and dinner if in the area Cons: Food is below average more

Eat your heart out, San Francisco! 11/11/2007

We""ve loved this place (on Washington) since it first opened.... breakfast, lunch and dinner are all great. I can't even begin to pick out a favorite dish, but the veggie burgers are so good I eat them even though I'm not a vegetarian; I don't think we've ever had anything that we didn't like a lot. We've moved to San Francisco, but never visit Chicago without heading for the Wishbone. Great service, great crowd, great food. more

I LOVE the food here. Always bring out-of-towners here to eat some comfort food. Yummy and reminds me of home 3/12/2007

I have never had a bad experience here (or the location on Lincoln). The black bean cakes, shrimp & grits, crunchy french toast...it's all wonderful. The martini's are yummy too (can't find them on the online menu but I'm pretty sure we had some there...they do have a liquor license). If you are looking for a home-cooked meal, look no further. The only draw-back is their hours. Now that they are in the midst of a hopping residential area, they should expand their hours!!! Pros: GREAT comfort food, location, fun place to watch people Cons: Limited hours more

Overrated 10/27/2006

""southern-style"" maybe if they're trying to copy a pretty ordinary restaurant serving bland food in the south. no major complaints about the place, the food just really isn't very good. would not go back, too many places in the city worth going to. more

Fantastic Brunch Spot 9/23/2006

I was looking for a place to take my friend for breakfast when he came up from U of Illinois. Since he was downtown, I couldn't take him to the lucky platter in evanston, which is also a very nice breakfast spot. So, through a RAINSTORM, we found the oasis that is Wishbone. I have eaten a lot of breakfasts and brunches. This is one of the best ones that I've had since I have left college (I was spoiled by a good breakfast spot). All of us were thoroughly satisfied with the meal that we had. I had the corn cakes and they were delicious and the cheese grits were fantastic, textured, and hot, not congealed like at other places. The best part of it all: all three of us ate with drinks and all for less than 40 dollars, a fantastic deal. The only problem that I had with the restaurant was that I didn't get enough coffee, but this might have been because we came towards the end of brunch so they didn't have people roaming the floor. Even without the coffee, it was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend it. Pros: Affordable, Tasty, Eccentric Cons: Could have gotten more coffee, but the timing was weird, so they're probably better about this at other times. more

No worries 7/4/2005

My wife and I came across this restaurant shortly after moving to Chicago, and after being here for 6 months, it has become a weekly staple for us! There is just no bad meal here! Breakfast, outstanding! Lunch, outstanding! Dinner, outstanding! Service is great as well. And the best part, you can find cheap parking (meters, not lots) within a block at just about anytime. Its a must stop in my opinion! more

The Best Brunch 8/3/2004

This is by far one of the best comfort food southern cuisine treats in the city of Chicago. I have been dinning at the Wishbone for over 7 years and it is by far one of my favorite places to eat. The food especially the crawfish cakes are delightful. The price is right and the portions are hearty, it is one of Chicago's best. However ther can be a wait and the Washington street location is very loud. Pros: Food, Price more

timing is important 6/12/2004

Extremely helpful waitress! We arrived with our 4 children for breakfast at 11am to find out it was no longer served. Cut off was 10:30am. We were disappointed but stayed for the lunch which was ok. Pros: trendy decorating, $5 parking, great wait staff Cons: , pureed mushroom soup more

Great Food for a good price! 12/26/2002

I dine at this restaurant all the time and the food is always good. I recommend the crawfish cakes and the crab cakes for dinner. The prices are very affordable it is worth the money. But there is a wait for the Sunday Brunch so make a reservation if you can. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Crowded at brunch more

Top Notch 11/22/2002
