Worst service ever 6/15/2008

I went to the Winds for Father's Day brunch expecting good food and great service. However, my expectations weren't even close. We left after 85 minutes without receiving our food AND with empty drink glasses. The co-owner was completely apologetic (what else could she say?) - but without reason for the fiasco. And yes- I have been there before and been completely unimpressed my previous 2 times. I thought it must have been an off-day. This place is completely overrated. Don't go!!!! Pros: The Winds is located is a really great area with lots of shops and food. Cons: This has the worst service ever. Find another spot to eat. more

Unique atmosphere- great wine-fresh baked goods-fond memories 12/8/2007

The Winds Cafe- probably my most favorite restaurants of all times. The wines they have suggested are ones I consistantly select. The atmosphere including the way not two seats are the same. It is so special that I brought my husband there the night before our wedding, and we continue to go there on our anniversary every chance we get. I rate this one a 5 for fond memories. Picky Lee Pros: Atmosphere, food, bakery, and wines Cons: too far from home in Cincinnati more

A Unique and Satisfying Experience 8/22/2005

What a fortunate choice! Winds Cafe has brightly-colored walls, interesting art , and a unique setting and set-up. One look at the menu and I was in heaven! There were items I always wanted to try. The description of each entree was interesting and enjoyable ; not something you would see on any other menu. I chose Game Hen Limoncello, which was delicious. Two others in our party had halibut and striped bass (which was a substitue for walleye that night); and one had the skirt steak. I thought Emeril had cooked our meals!! The only complaint I might have, is that according to the menu, it seemed I was to have a limoncello liquer served at the end of my dinner, but later realized that did not happen. All in all, I greatly enjoyed our visit to Winds Cafe, and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something different. Pros: Unusual menu items, ambiance, pleasant staff Cons: expensive more

nothing to write home about 8/15/2005

After having heard so much about this restaurant, my husband and I were very keen to try it. We were disappointed. Mojito cocktail was the worst I ever had (where were the mint leaves ?), Kir royal did NOT need a zest of orange in it (kill the original taste). Goat cheese wrapped in bacon was good but was like anywhere else. Steamed veggies were umpalatable. We stopped here, so sorry, but no dessert review ! Low ceiling, LOUD (do not expect intimacy) and overpriced. Service was OK. more

Gotta try this place! 11/14/2002

Just visited twice over the last month, I can't say enough about the effort and the pleasure of dinning there. We live out of state but were able to make it last night, we were at the Thirteenth Annual Garlic Dinner, thoroughly enjoyed not only the food, but the wine pairings made for a great dinner. Have visited six seperate times since the summer of 2002. Three times each for lunch and dinner. The specials, menu and wine list are to the point, offering variety without excessive redundancy or compromise. The cuisine is spectacular, especially dinner. The service is very attentive. The atmosphere is modest but pleasant and reminiscent of a simple disciplined contemporary countryside french cafe. No standing on ceremony but it is still a special event when dining here. One of my all time favorites. I look forward to reasons to travel back there for dinner. Excellent ! Pros: excellent cuisine, great wine & unique, great value Cons: none that I have more
