Fine American Art 3/9/2006

The Whitney is a great place to spend the afternoon - I could sit and watch the Alexander Calder circus video for hours. I've enjoyed many special exhibits there on subjects ranging from film projects to quilting bees. The permanent collection is definitely worth a look but may not pull you back more than once a year. Sarabeth's in the basement is a fantastic spot for brunch or lunch! Get the hot chocolate. (Note - it is open before the museum is on weekends) more

A really excellent museum 9/19/2005

The Whitney Museum of American Art is truly an excellent museum with a wide variety of work ranging from some tradition art to allowing one to appreciate the wonders of modern architectture. Overall, this is a wonderul museum for one to make a day of, which is why I recommend to anyone - btw, being less tourist oriented is a huge plus as the museum is not as crowded and yet houses amazing works. more

Whitney - Great American Art 8/15/2005

A fantastic museum if you like American Art. A great selection of 20th century work by great artists like Edward Hopper among many others. My kids always enjoy this museum - it' not over crowded like the Met and there is usually something fun for them to do. Good flow through the musuem - go if you haven't for a while. more
