We were a party of five on March 22, 2008. We have dined at highly rated restaurants before and have not had an experience comparable to the one at Wheatfields. Despite having a 7 pm reservation and warned that it would only be held for 15 minutes, we waited for our table. The first three wines we requested were not in stock and only found this out after the waitperson checked and came back three times. The fourth choice was served and after it was consumed, we found out was the only bottle of that type in stock. This happened despite the fact that we asked her to check and see if there was a second bottle before this one was opened and served. The waitperson was unable to recommend a similar wine and had to consult the bartender for a recommendation. Two of our five entrees were overcooked to the point of being inedible. Then, to top off our experience, a member of the waitstaff proceeded to vacuum the dining area at 8:40 pm, around and under chairs of seated patrons. We would this to be extremely unprofessional and distracting. A conversation with one of the managers on duty proved to be less than satisfying as our concerns appeared to have no effect on her. We will not return to Wheatfields and will not recommend it to our friends.
