Our daughter is 22 months old and has been at this daycare since she was 10 weeks old. We have been extremely pleased with the care she has received. Her teachers genuinely care about her progress, and she is advanced for her age group which is in part due to the diligent efforts of the staff at WSPT. more

Just Like Family! 10/21/2010

My daughter has attended WSPT since she was 9 months old. She is now 6 years old and the center is like a second family to her! The teachers are caring, professional, and always willing to talk with parents. Both owners are on site ALL day and are approachable, caring, and friendly. I've had nothing short of a good experience with WSPT. My daughter looks forward to going there each day and now that she's finally a school-ager, she enjoys the many trips Mr. Bill provides for the kids on days off of school and sometimes even after school. These trips include visits to local business such as Bluehound Farm and Hagy's Skating Rink. The children also visit Senior Centers where the kids sing songs and visit elderly often with handmade crafts and gifts to give and even take a trips to the Newberry Township Fire Station and a local dentists office. The curriculum is also a huge benefit to this center. My daughter has gained a great deal of knowledge and skills that have more than prepared her for starting school. We are so pleased with how well she is doing academically. Also, it's a huge relief to never have to worry about providing food or snacks. Three mornings a week, hot homemade breakfasts are prepared by the owner. Most of the meals for lunch are also hot meals like chicken & waffles, chili & rice, and spaghetti. WSPT is the best! 1/20/2009

My 10 year old daughter has been going to WSPT for almost 6 years. It is difficult to find such a structured day care that truly cares about your child and staff that you can trust. My daughter needs a structured environment. They keep to a schedule while having fun doing it. She absolutely loves the owners, Mr. Bill and Ms. Judy, they put so much love and effort into the centers. It is more than just a business to them and it shows. With all of children at the two centers, they know them and parents all by name. The summer program is wonderful and keeps the children educated and busy. There are very few days where there is down time and nothing to do. I recommend and trust this center more than others in our area. more

They're Like Family 12/31/2008

My daughter has been with WSPT since November of last year, and it has been a wonderful experience, she is now 4 years old. I cannot say enough about the owners, teachers and general facility.... From the warm meals, daily activities and field trips they get to take part in. They have their own personalized School Bus for field trips, and most of the time my daughter is more excited about getting to ride on the bus than actually going on the field trip! You never have to wonder what your child did on a particular day, as your child is sent home with a Happy Gram showing what activities they did that day, what they ate and how their behavior was. We are very lucky to be a part of WSPT and I always know my daughter is well taken care of. The childen especially love the home-baked cookies, and often refer to one of the owners as Mr. Cookie Head (my daughter just loves him). Love this place 12/31/2008

I have been taking my children to WSPT since July 2001. My oldest has just finished with her final summer program at the center (she is 12 1/2) and my youngest is now in school but goes to WSPT before and after school. The youngest has been there since she's been 6 weeks old and I have never worried about her well being. I have never worried about either one of their well-beings. In times like today when parents are constantly fearing for the safety, well being and education of their children there is NO other place I would take my kids, than to WSPT. Bill and Judy (as well as the rest of the staff) have been absolutely wonderful to my family and my kids. It says alot when your child wakes up and WANTS to go to daycare. Bill and Judy are always putting money back into that center to make it better for the children. They are fair and honest and I credit them and their staff for preparing my youngest one for kindergarten. For my husband and myself, there is no other choice, I wou more

Couldn't be happier!! 12/29/2008

We moved our children to Whales, Snail and Puppy Dog Tails about 6 months ago and I wished I would have done it sooner. The turnover rate is so low here. The teachers care and more importantly Bill and Judy Whale care. They are an integral part of the operation of the center, they don't just pocket the money and run like so many other centers. They put what they can back into the center. The meals are great, some days I wish I could eat breakfast and lunch there. My Bill is notorious for making monster cookies and sending them home. The kids have great playgrounds to play on. The staff love and care for the children. When I come in to pick up and drop off and I asked how my kids day was, I never hear ""I don't know"" which is what I got at the other day care center, I hear about all the great things he/she did, I don't just get negative feedback, I am told what new words my daughter spoke today and how my son helped pick up toys and he sings songs to me on the way home. I never had that before and I'm ecstatic with the time the teachers take to spend with the children. Oh and let's not forget the great field trips. Mr. Bill drives the school bus and takes the older children to visit an elderly home to sing songs as well as field trips to playgrounds, the school age children get to go roller skating and get ice cream. I can't recommend this center enough. Our most precious gift in life is our children and Mr. Bill and Mrs. Judy make sure they are taken care of the same way we do, with nurturing, love, discipline and importance. I wish there were more that 5 stars I feel a 5 star review is to low! 4/25/2008

Without this facility I would be worried about my children all day! I have interviewed many private babysitters, (And was able to find something wrong with them all!) I even chose another daycare facility first (because it was cheaper). I have never had to worry about my child here. They have a friendly caring educated personable staff. The owners Bill and Judy are wonderful role models. When it comes to my children my expectations are high, this center goes above and beyond my expectations. I can't believe some of the amazing things they do for these kids and the community! My children have been in this center for 5 years and wouldn't even think of ever sending them anywhere else. They are here for the kids and not the money. Sometimes I feel like they spoil the kids, ALL OF THEM! I recommend this daycare center to anyone who will listen. I have never heard anyone complain or say anything bad about this center. Definitly the best value for your dollar. more

Feeling very fortunate 3/22/2008

My 2 children (7 & 3) attend the center and everyday I am thankful for the fabulous care they receive and the piece of mind I carry with me throughout the day knowing my kids are in excellent hands. With many things in life, I am fairly low maintenance. However, with my children, I am that hyper-concerned, pain in the neck, neurotic stalker type that you occasionally meet and wonder how they haven't spontaneously combusted. Actually, let me clarify, I am that freak EXCEPT when my kids are at Whales, Snails. Bill and Judy, the owners, are wonderful people who run a smooth operation with warmth and professionalism. Their choice of staff reflects the high standards under which the center operates. Turnover is rare and I have really liked all my children's teachers. My daughter has had the same teacher since she arrived in kindergarten. My son's teachers are likewise still there but one. Can't say enough about this Daycare Center 2/7/2008

My fiance and I moved to Newberry Township in 2005. One of our first priorities was finding a daycare center for our children. It is such an important decision to make that, as any parent would, we hoped that when we chose Whale Snails & Puppy Dogs Tails we made the right decision. Here we are two years later and I can tell you this might be one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Bill and Judy Whale and their staff are top notch. I count my blessings every day that I can leave my children in their care. The center is fantastic they receive breakfast, a morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack. And on many occasions Mr. Bill has one of his famous giant cookies made up to go at pick up time. There are numerous playgrounds and activities for the children. My little boy just turned three, and before his third birthday he could count to 20, say his ABC's, knew his colors and shapes, I have no doubt he will have a HUGE head start going into school. Lots of TLC 11/14/2007

My children have been going to this center since they were 6 weeks old. My daughter is now school age and enjoys getting up in the morning to go to the center. This center is privately owned and the owners are on the premisiss every day. The staff is very loving and friendly. Each staff member is trained in pediatric first aid and fire safety once a year. They keep the children busy with crafts and toys and take them outside as often as possible for some fresh air. They are fed very well. No box lunches. All fresh food prepared by the owner. The owners go out of their way to make sure that each holiday is special for the children. The summer program and Whales, Snails and Puppy Dog Tails is fabulous. Its filled with field trips and activitys for the School age children to keep themselves busy. So much better than sitting in a stuffy room for 8 - 10 hrs a day. Simply the Best 10/30/2007

When it came time to make a change regarding the daycare provider for my son I was very torn. My husband and I interviewed multiple facilities. The care of our only child is of the utmost importance and priority. With our decision made and the constant wonder of did we make the right decision, our son entered the center at the age of 1 1/2. He is now almost 4. This was the best decision we could have made. We don't find the cost anywhere out of the ordinary, especially for the care and services provided. Each day breakfast (3 days of a cooked breakfast I might add) is provided along with a home cooked lunch, snacks and all are included in the tuition. If you do the math, the average child is at the center for approximately 9 hours per day. Let's say the week tuition is approximately $175.00...this equals $3.88 per hour ($175 divided by 45 hours)...I think teenage babysitters make more...Mr Bill delivers and picks up the children at local elementary schools affording parents a more

  • We are a licensed, educationally based Child Care Center serving the needs of children between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years old. We are open from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Five of our teachers have 4 year Elementary Education and Early Childhood Degrees and The Director has a Masters Degree. We provide home cooked meals for breakfast and lunch, plus two snacks each day for no additional cost. We provide transportation to and from school and on all field trips in a new Thomas Built school bus. Our Summer Program children go on five field trips per week to places like the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Harrisburg Riverboat, Indian Echo Caverns, Lake Tobias, etc. The Summer Program children also go swimming each week and Dairy Delights Ice Cream after swimming, bowling every other week and Chuck E. Cheese three times over the Summer. All field trips, food and drink are included in the Summer Program price of $175 per week for full time. Our pricing for all age children is in line with our competition, however our price includes meals. We have very strict standards of cleanliness at Whales, Snails and Puppy Dog Tails. You will not smell urine or feces, nor the orange cover up scent typically used by unclean centers to mask odors. We are members of and are trained through the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our staff are also trained in fire prevention and CPR/First Aid.
