He Killed My Cat 11/9/2011

I took my cat to him to be spayed, when I picked her up later that day she was still bleeding a little bit and he said it was normal not too worry so i took her home. A few hours later I called him and repeatedly asked about the bleeding/oozing from the incision, and he also said it was normal not too worry. Then a few hours later my wife came home saw the cat and called him her self at 7:00pm friday, after asking the doctor again if it was normal for the cat to be bleeding, he said I am the veternarian and I know what I am doing, put her back in her box and leave her alone. Which we did, because we trusted him. The next morning I had to bury my cat, I called him and told him he should have let us bring the cat back in to be checked out, and he said, ""oh well I guess I should have taken a look"". I have filed a complaint with the Texas veterinary board and am waiting to hear back from them. IF YOU LIKE this veterinarian because you have had ""Good"" luck with him so far more power too you, but I took my cat in and it was dead the next day because he knows what he's doing. Also I have other cats and have seen other vets before, so I am not one of those people described by others as naive to what a good vet is. In my opinion he should have his license taken away. more

I went here because it was advertised as cheaper, when I got there the price was double what he quoted me! Of course I payed it. There were NO other vets, or vet techs... just him ALONE. He called me an hour after he said they'd be ready for pickup saying all of a sudden he had to go home and I now needed to rush to come get them! This was 3pm on a Monday! There were barely any aftercare instructions or explanations. When initially called he seemed rushed to get me off the phone and I had to fight to get answers- I put it down to being a stupid intern but now I realize this was the VET! I had to call my normal Vet after to alleviate concern that they'd been butchered- but seemingly not the case thank god- he TOOK PLENTY OF TIME TO EXPLAIN 100% MORE THAN WAS ASKED OF HIM. Don't believe me? LOOK AT THE FISH TANK WHEN YOU WALK IN THE DOOR AT WESTHOLLOW. You want to leave your animal there? more

Very rude vet 2/18/2011

I didn't even get the chance to take my cat to the vet there and I already hate it. I recently adopted a cat from someone who had used this veterinarian in the past for my cat. The person who answered the phone had an attitude right of the get-go and not only that but refused to verify the vaccination expiration date for my cat!! Now I know that vaccinations are released by fax or phone all the time for grooming purposes so this is completely unreasonable. The vet even disconnected the call. very rude. I will say one cat will never be going there. never!!!! Plus the previous owner of the cat said that she never used that vet again because he overcharges and sells services the animal doesn't even need. Beware! more

I took my sick cat there on a Thursday, he didn't even check his heart or breathing sounds, he gave him 3 shots and told us he would be fine the next day. My cat got worse and when I took him to another clinic on Saturday they said the best thing we could do is put him to sleep. I believe Dr. Yoo knew this but just wanted to make the 192.00 we paid him for 3 useless shots. If you love your animal please take him somewhere else. Cons: CON-ARTIST more

Stay Away AT all COST !! SCAM 3/17/2010

Advertises low cost spay and neuter. But when you get there their are fees and overpriced services added to the bill. Very rude man. His ads portray him as a helper of animal protection groups but he is really just a rip off artist !! Cons: see below more

AVOID 8/31/2009

When I called he quoted me a price which was much lower than most places. So I brought her there to be spayed. When I picked her up she was covered in body fluids. No discharge instructions were given. And I ended up paying more than what I was quoted. Four days later our normally healthy puppy ripped open her stitches from running. We ended up running her to emergency care, almost having to put her to sleep, going to another clinic and paying $1000 more for surgery. This could have all been avoided if we were properly informed of post-operative care. Cons: not properly informed, cost was higher more

Great Doc 12/3/2008

I've been to a number of veterinarians and most of the ones I have been to have been unnecessarily expensive. He answers questions and provides straight-forward answers. Since I've been here, over 5 years ago, I wouldn't go anywhere else. more

No-nonsense approach - Best Vet I've ever met 11/21/2008

I can see from some of the other reviews that they haven't owned very many animals nor worked with many vets. Over the past 20 years and many family pets - I have found that many vets tend to ""suger coat"" things and tell me things I want to hear instead of telling me what is really going on so I can make the best decision for my pet (both for the animals health, and for my financial well being). Dr Yoo's direct approach is refreshing in this age of wishy-washy advice. Also - as you look at feedback you need to remember that for every one complaint, there are 100's of happy people who haven't said anything - its just the nature of feedback. Pros: Direct and no-nonsense. Great value. In-and-out. Cons: Wish his clinic was larger and worked on horses and exotics. more

Horrible Vet 5/31/2008

This vet is awful. I brought my two kitties there to be spayed and neutered. Unfortunately, I did this because he offers low cost spay and neuters. When I got there, he more than doubled what I thought I was spending because he added on a bunch of ""required"" fees and services. I told him he should have told me all of this when I called and his response was that I didn't ask. He is extremely rude. In addition to this, he did a butcher job on both of them. I wonder if this vet even has a license. The incision on the male cat was way too large from what I have read online. He was bleeding all last night. I called the vet and of course he has no emergency phone number or way to reach him. He told us the cats would be back to normal by the time we got them home. The female cat couldn't even walk all night, she kept falling over. I don't know if he gave her too much anesthesia, but it seemed like she was out of it for way too long. He should have warned us about how long she could affected, rather than saying she would be fine by the time we got her home. Both cats seem fine now, but I still would never go to this vet again! Cons: Rude, Charges more than expected, butcher jobs, office smells like urine more

Avoid This Doctor ! 10/16/2007

Many veterinarians deserve their titles as doctor, but unfortunately Dr. Yoo does not. He is not a doctor that has respect or compassion for animals. His ultimate goal is to make a buck. I brought my puppy there and within 40 minutes of leaving the clinic, the little darling passed away. She was very weak to begin with and that is the initial reason for bringing her there, but Dr. Yoo proceeded to give her 5 large shots that were unnecessary. I know my dog and that is the reason that she passed away - painfully. He did nothing to treat the problem, and he also said that my dog would most likely get better within 2 hours. I would call his technique and approach incompetent, to say the least. He is a crass, rude man and I really doubt that he cares for animals. There are compassionate and kind veterinarians in Houston - please don't trust this person. Pros: Dr. Yoo negates any that exist Cons: Dr. Yoo, his lack of compassion, his dated instruments and techniques - and much more more

Not very happy 9/19/2007

I went to see dr. yoo today to get my puppy nuttered(is that spelled right) and was very surprised when i went to pick him up. both testicles hadn't dropped, only one, so instead of calling me, the owner of the dog and the person that brought him in, he called my mother on the call for emergency list. he told her that some dogs are born w/o 2 testicles....or that the other hadn't dropped, so what should he do. well needless to say she was in surgery and wasn't really involved in the conversation and ok'd it. so soon i will have to return to pay for another surgery, when i feel that he should have waited instead of making my pet go through surgery twice. To me it seemed fishy that he didn't call me at all....and when i asked he said ""that I mentioned my mom said not to get after surgery pain medication."" I asked if he even tried calling me, the owner, and payment maker, and he said no. he has good prices but man....why the hassle? p.s. On the clinics' website he quotes his prices $10 cheaper that they really are(reciepts to prove it) he was a very nice guy, but who else has he done this to? more

Friendly Service 2/26/2007

I've been to the same veterinarian for over 10 years and I haven't had a single reason too. The prices are very reasonable and I always feel welcome here. Pros: Friendly, Knowledgable, Same-day drop-off and pick-up more

Best Veterinary Service in Houston! 2/3/2007

Westhollow Animal Clinic is the best animal clinic in Houston. We took our dog to other vet clinics and were never quite satisfied with the service and care of our dog before we met Dr. Yoo. My family has been taking our dog there for the past 9 years to see Dr. Yoo. He has always taken good care of our dog. Not only is he always accessible, but he is also thorough, always smiling, always laughing, and allows time for you to ask questions. Even though our dog is aggressive, he always treats her with patience and kindness. His rates are also the best in Houston. Dr. Yoo has also received numerous awards from animal shelters and animal support groups for his work in animal care and service. If you have a pet you love and care about, you should definitely take them to see Dr. Yoo, you won't be taking your pet anywhere else. Pros: Available parking at all times, Friendly service, Lots of experience, Good prices more
