Best

we have been going to West Park Animal Hospital for over 12 years and they are the best, they take care of all our dogs and treat them and us like family.

Worst

Don't take my word for it, check it out. Their prices are higher than vets' with better qualifications & longer resumes (Gateway Animal Hosptial & Animal Clinic Northview, to name...

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/30/2014

I've always found the staff to be compassionate and professional. They treated my dog when I had to wait to pay them and there was no problem at all. I go there with nothing but confidence that my girl will be well cared for. They have never tried to ""sell"" me anything that was not necessary. I really don't care about the age of the staff as long as they do their job. Middle age is not always better. I've found that people who love animals come in all ages and professionalism is not measured by age anyway. This is the first vet that didn't make me put a muzzle on Molly before they would walk into the room. I would highly recommend them to anyone. more

I took my pets here recently and will not go back. Was charged three times more than told I would just for exam fees and the staff is not cooperative and does not have a good sense of customer service. There are so many individuals who work here and they seem to be inexperienced. The doctor that I saw was great but the technicians and front desk staff do not know what they are doing. Try somewhere else and avoid the hassle of this practice. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/4/2014

WARNING -- When I picked up my 3-year-old Kitty after surgery, the technician had placed the Fentanyl transdermal patch on her rear-upper leg. I found this questionable, but was so happy to have Kitty back. When I got home I researched the Fentanyl patch: A powerful narcotic drug, it is toxic, even fatal if ingested! It should always be placed where the animal cannot scratch or bite it, usually on the back between the shoulder blades. The Fentanyl patch is not approved for use in animals by the Food and Drug Administration! Needless to say, I removed the patch immediately, even although I was billed $32 for it (2007 price). \r I had taken a couple cats to West Park Animal Hospital for routine exams before this incident. They employ a large proportion of very young (i.e., inexperienced) staff, likely as a source of cheap labor. I never encountered any personnel on staff over 30 years old. After the dangerous stupidity exhibited with Kitty's treatment at West Park, I found a nearby vet who employs several mature, experienced veterinary professionals. more

Rude, Just Rude. 8/20/2013

I was always pleased with West Park UNTIL my dog had a visit with Dr. Borys. My dog is clearly allergic to fleas. He looked at him and said he doesn't have fleas (didn't bother to comb) gave him antibiotics which did not help. I was then sold Frontline. Which I could not afford. Didn't matter. I called to explain the antibiotics didn't work and that I felt like I wasted my money, he told me that I needed stop saying "I wasted my money" which I really felt like I did. Told me not to treat my yard for fleas but instead buy FRONTLINE. He was very rude and arrogant on the phone. more

Best Cleveland Vet Clinic 5/21/2012

Been taking my 3 dogs here for 11 years, and I wouldn't go to another vet, ever. Dr Borys Pakush is unbelievably personable with his patients' human parents. He explains what needs to be done, how much it will cost, and what any alternatives may be. After surgeries, he gets on the phone and calls you himself. If you're ever wondering IF you should bring your pet in, you can call and speak with him and he'll advise you on what to do (many times, he's told me to do such-and-such, saving me the cost of bringing one of my dogs in). The front desk staff could be a bit friendlier, but I'm not there for them. more

Unprofessional 5/4/2012

Published my review under the wrong doctor so I removed it. But as a whole I will never bring another animal into this business. \r \r The staff at the front lied about my dogs ashes being there. I called the crematory myself and found out that they had been delivered yesterday. At least have the guts not to push the blame off onto the crematory. Stand up and say..Until the postdated check goes through you can't have you pets ashes....even though you already payed for them. more

Unprofessional 5/3/2012

Anybody who takes their pets to West Park Hospital be very careful. . They lied to me 2 days in a row about my dogs ashes. They told me that they hadn't been brought back yet. Called the crematory and their records showed that they were delivered yesterday. They were holding her ashes hostage even though they had a postdated check for the remaining balance. \r \r She had (emergency) surgery and was doing well. Then she started acting different so I took her back. Dr Henderson took over her case. He said she had ITP and put her on prednisone, doxycycline, zeniquin and enacard. She had 3 x rays and an ultrasound during her treatment all the while he was pushing a bone marrow aspiration at a facility in Akron. (which I refused). \r \r She was doing well for a bit, then started retaining fluid. I took her back for a follow up and he suggested more blood work and x rays. I did the blood work but not the 4th x ray. She had one 4 days prior.\r \r She had gained 4 lbs..mostly fluid building up in her body, but he did nothing to treat it. She died 3 days later at home. I took her in to be cremated with the ashes returned and they intentionally lied to me. (you have to pay up front for the cremation services)\r \r They're supposed to care about the animal but the only thing they cared about was the money. My baby might still be here if they would have treated her properly instead of worrying about lining their pockets.\r \r Her surgery was over $900. The treatment after surgery was almost $2000. and her cremation was $135.90. \r more

Dr. Megan Culler and the Staff of West Park are TOP NOTCH! 11/21/2011

Our treasured female feline friend recently caught a terrible virus which came close to taking her away from us. Her regular vet, as well as another nearby evening hours emergency room could not help her. They did not have the knowledge, nor the necessary equipment to provide the specific care that our feline friend required. \r \r Thank goodness we found these wonderfully gifted people to save her life. Our friend Lucy needed to be placed in an oxygen cage for quite a while. We were allowed to visit her in the back room of the hospital anytime of the day or night during her stay. We observed that the entire staff was consistently tender and caring towards ALL of their ill ""patients."" As a matter of fact, the tenderness of the entire staff was always rather touching. \r \r The ""patients"" were also always kept in a clean environment, which is very important, as our ex-vet's disregard for clean hands and clean surroundings is what caused our friend's illness to begin with! \r \r In addition, the entire staff was always so patient, respectful and polite to us, as well as to all of their other human clients. \r \r We have dealt with countless veterinarians throughout our life, but have never encountered one as knowledgeable as Dr. Megan Culler. She without a doubt made the appropriate decision to become a DVM. She is a rather gifted individual and we will always be grateful for the fact that we will have our gal Lucy with us for many more years to come! \r \r This veterinarian practice is about as close to perfect as ANY practice could hope to ever be. ALL veterinarian offices and animal hospitals should emulate the compassion and knowledge of the entire staff.\r more

Awful Business 3/26/2011

Will never go there again. They still have given no answers for my sick cat. Overpriced and didn't say how much all the tests would be and would not arrange payments. My cat is sick and they will not release her records. more

Just Plain Bad 1/8/2011

The only thing this hospital cares about is whther or not you can pay up. If your dog has a serious condition please take him/her elsewhere. Our dog died because of the lack of attention to details from the Vets and staff at this facility. Dont be fooled! and please dont find out for yourself! more

Ok, Still go there in a pinch 5/18/2009

We took our dog here for routine care when we first got him from the APL (which doesn't treat dogs they adopt) and they missed two illnesses: tapeworm and ear mites. I thought they should have treated for worms, but they didn't. It was expensive for rountine care.\r \r A few year later our dog got violently ill and we rushed him to West Park. They held him overnight and just like another review, they were VERY concerned whether we could pay the bill. And it was expensive. We had to call them TWICE to pick up our dog the next day.\r \r Even though they ran every test and checked his stools, they missed a parasite that our other vet found two days later. Yes, I took him to our walk-in clinic vet two days later because our dog was still sick. West Park did stop the profuse throwing up.\r \r So, moral of the story, I only use West Park Animal if it's an extreme emergency or I can't wait at the walk-in clinic. For the money they charge, you expect great, complete service. That's not what I get. Pros: Convenient, emergency care Cons: can't find worms in a sample, $$$$ more

Emergency Surgery 5/4/2009

On a Sunday afternoon our big Lab mix , KC, found a golf ball in our back yard. Being KC he decided to pick it up and roll it around in his mouth and before you know it, he swallowed itright in front of our eyes! My husband and I both knew there was no way he was going to pass this so I immediately called West Park Emergency Vet. They told me what to do to induce vomitting to see if he could bring it up.....no luck . We both knew the longer we waited the further down his digestive tract the ball would move. We took him into West Park where they tried to get him to bring it up again with no luck. They suggested emergency surgery to remove the ball before it moved into his intestine. We discussed the cost and knew it would be high but we knew we had to do what we could for KC. While he was there he received the best of care from a very caring and compassionate staff. They called us regularly to keep us up on what what happening with KC and they showed such concern that I would refer anyone to them.\r KC is now back at home with us and healing quite nicely thanks to West Park Animal Hospital! Thank you to all the staff and Drs. Pros: Hours and Staff Cons: A bit expensive more

Always kind 3/3/2009

I have used the Westpark Animal Hospital several times. Twice when my purebred cat became ill, once requiring surgery and just recently when my father's chocolate lab became ill. At all times, the staff was very kind, explained the issues and let us make an informed decision. My cat survived her illness and injury. My father's dog was too ill and we had to put him asleep. The vet was absolutely WONDERFUL. Caring and compassionate. Despite being busy they let us stay with Jack until we were ready to say goodbye. I would recommend this hospital. more

Best care there is 2/27/2009

I work for Westpark Animal Hospital for over 6 years now and some of you people have alot of nerve talking about how horrible this vet is. The reason your animals are deceased or sick is probably your own fault. I have been using this vet for years before I even working here. For anyone to say we abuse animals is ridiculous, the only reason we take the animal out of room to do vaccines and stuff is because animals usually react better away from their owners, if you are worried about watching procedures we do here , just ask doctor and it will be done in front of you in room. Also there are no abusive doctors here, some people are insane. I know the case with the bulldog that died, it was not because of our staff. It was because the pup was bought from a pet store and had been sick the whole time the pet store owned it, the new owners should hve gotten the history from the pet store, I , myself don't reccomend buying from pet stores. ANyhow, most of the doctors here are amazingly commpassionate and we have received many letters of reccomendation, opinions are like aholes everyone has one... to each his own, but as far as I am concerned this hospital is and has always been (will always be) the best... Pros: great caring staff with knowledge Cons: waiting when busy.... more
