You are talking about twenty dollars or so to go around the city on this boat tour and relax in the sun. I do this every year as a refresher on my city and to just do something different for a while. It is an interesting tour. This isn't romantic or anything, but it does make for a good date. more

Appreciate Chicago's gorgeous skyline aboard Wendella 5/12/2006

Trust me, you don't have to be a tourist to appreciate this wonderful little boat. I have lived here my whole life and still take trips around our gorgeous lakefront once in a while. Wendella is the best! It's cheap, fun and you get to cruise Chicago's infamous akefront. Even for a lifelong resident like me, it's still enjoyable to see the best our city has to offer. I love taking the cruise at dusk, you get to watch the sun set and you get that cool breeze from Lake Michigan. more

Cruise the Chicago River 3/30/2006

This boatline offers architectural tours which last an hour or so, they also offer sightseeing tours which last about 40 minutes. It is a very relaxing ride and a an excellent place to take photos of the sites. Many tourists and locals love this boat because of it's slow pace and it's classic look and style.I suggest that you sit on the top deck to get the most out of your experience. Each time I departed I saw nothing but smiles from ear to ear from everyone. more

Good Tour by Boat 8/21/2005

Wendella Boats is great. They pick you up on a boat and then you go along the Chicago river while a host tells you about the architectural significance of the various buildings along the shoreline. It takes about an hour and it is very educational. The boats are clean and have an open top deck so you can easily see and take pictures. Definitely recommended on a nice summer day. more

See the Architecture of Chicago from the Water 8/18/2005

This is a perfect way to explore Chicago. The Wendella sightseeing tour of the Chicago River is a must-do for every tourist (and fun for locals, too). Jump aboard and take this narrated cruise along the river...you'll learn more about Chicago history and architecture than you could dream possible. Narration is good, too, not many corny jokes. A sunny afternoon is the time to catch this cruise. It's an easy stroll down the stairs along Michigan Avenue at the Chicago River. more

Wendella Boat Tour 8/11/2005

This should be number one on your must-do list if you're visiting Chicago for the first time. Wendella does great architectural boat tours for an affordable price. I went on one recently that lasted about an hour, and the view alone is worth the price. The tour guide did a fantastic job of relaying history and anecdotes. more

should go 8/10/2005

The most beautiful part of Chicago is its historic downtown with Michigan Lake. Its fabulous modern architectures make Chicago a unique city. Every building has some story behind it. Wendella Sightseeing shows visitors a beautiful city view. There are many bridges all over the city. It is a enjoyable tour to see them. more

Great tours, great prices 8/1/2005

The folks at Wendella have been in the sightseeing boat ride business longer than anyone in Chicago. They offer a variety of tours every day of the week. The one I went one was a combination tour of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River, which lasted 90 minutes and cost $19. Not bad! The whole thing was one big photo-op and you get to see the most famous, interesting landmarks in Chicago. Our guide, Tom, was exceptional; funny and informative, without sounding like he was making one big 90-minute speech (which, of course, he was). During weekends these tours tend to sell out, so reserve your space through your hotel concierge or go down to the pier to buy tickets early; even then, you should prepare to line up 30-45 minutes before departure time. It gets a little cool on the water in the evenings, especially on the lake, so bring a jacket. more
