Editorial review from Citysearch 7/12/2012

I've been going to Wendel since I was a young child. They have always been very courteous and their dentists are excellent. They give you an estimate of your treatment costs. I'd highly recommend them. more

I have been going to Wendel Dental for 1/18/2012

I have been going to Wendel Dental for the past 2 years and have found a great dentist there, Dr. Lee. I'm not a big fan of going to the dentist but he is very gentle and explains exactly what he is doing or what the treatment is coming up. Friendly doctor and staff more

BEWARE 8/28/2011

Going to Windal was the biggest mistake of my life. I switched from a dentist that I was going to for 22+ years because my old dentist was not up to date on the new dental technologiesso I came to to Windal. They took Xrays and found 6 cavities. SERIOUSLY! I can honistly say I value my health a lot, I am a healthy eater; usually lean chicken and low sugar/carb intake hardly drink soda and never smoked a ciggrette or never drank alchol. Also I care about my image, making sure I brush my teeth after I wake up and before I go to bed, floss at night and floride in the morning. How in the world can I develop 6 cavities in my 20?s? After windal told me that I needed 6 fillings I of course had them filled trusting their professional opional. Yeah Right. Within 2 months one of the fillings ached a lot. I decided for my 6 month check up I will switch to a denist that another family member recommended to me. Well it took Windal about 2 weeks to send my Xrays and a couple of days later to send over my charts. Want to talk about taking your time. When the new referred Dentist examed me for my 6 month check up I told her about my aching tooth that I had done at Windal so they took more Xrays because the ones that Windal sent were poor quality. They found that I had decay under one filling that was only 4 months old and another filling had split and was on the verge of breaking off. Which both would have to be redone. While the new dentist was going over my teeth during the exam she said I had great teeth and barely any buildup. Crazy, then why in the world were my teeth so bad 6 months ago at Windal. Thanks Windal for distroying my teeth at such a young age and costing me a lot of money. more

The best for our family 4/20/2010

I have 2 children and we all go to Wendel. One of my daughters is special needs and will ONLY go there for the dentist. I have gotten my teeth pulled and dentures in and they were extremely gentle and kind. They always let me know if something isnt covered by my insurance and how much it will cost. Pros: considerate, helpful, and gentle Cons: we havent had any more

They did work really messed up then wouldnt own up to it 4/7/2010

i had 4 fillings done.. last week.. i was in severe pain contacted them and told me to come in.. so i do.. i talked to a lady and said i really need some kind of pain killer, ive done the ibeprofen and tylonal and it is not working. Then she sends me into the doctor... he BANGS my teeth with a metal instrument and says ""we dont just hand out narcotics"" & says i have sensitivity and that theres nothing wrong... so the 6th day of pain... waking up in tears at 3 in the morning i call another dentist. to find out wendel drilled into my nurve and my tooth is dying and thats why im in so much pain and now 2100 dollars later i still didnt get an apology from wendel dental!! I do not suggest going to them they say they want u to be part of ur treatment but its a lie!! Cons: they are seven day adventist that dont care more

Sacrifices Patient Health and Care for Money 12/28/2009

I work in healthcare specifically for a hospital in Portland. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a practice as I was by this clinic. I have been a patient there for over 4 years and have paid my bills in full at the time of service. Because I didn't have my checkbook, I was told they would need to run a credit check on me before performing service. I found this appalling. I was in pain from an inefficient job by one of their dentists and they wouldn't see me because I couldn't write them a check in full. I found this highly insulting considering my past history with this clinic. I was then told they would not be able to treat me because they only provide service when payment has been made. Cons: Overly focused on collecting money before patient well-being more

Rip Off Report 3/31/2009

Since the passing of Dr. Mirchel this business is worthless. In the past year and a half the doctors have managed to ruin my mouth. Patch this and patch that and although they were responsible for the damage they continue to charge me and my insurance! A law suit I am investigating! ALL reviews submitted regarding Wendel Dental sending Dr. Mirchels family to the collection agency Discover Financial here in Vancouver, Washington. are true. I saw all of the paperwork to include them not accepting a payment from Mrs. Mirchel's old account which they continue to add finance charges on too. WHAT A DISGRACE TO WENDEL DENTAL. THIS IS BEYOND UNETHICAL AND UNFAIR TO THIS FAMILY WHO LOST THERE DAD! HOW DARE THEY!!! WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO GO TO THIS DENTAL OFFICE IF THEY CONTINUE TO BILL THE FAMILY OF DR. MIRCHEL FOR WORK DONE? WHAT ABOUT PROFESSIONAL COURTESY. I KNOW FOR A FACT IT STILL EXISTS BECAUSE ALL OF THE DENTISTS, ORAL SURGEONS, ORTHODONTISTS AND OTHER SPECIALISTS THE MIRCHELS SEE CONTINUE TO GIVE IT TO THEM. I HAVE SEEN EVERY SINGLE LETTER TO INCLUDE ONE WRITTEN TO MRS. MIRCHEL FROM JENNIFER SIGMAN STATING THE MIRCHELS WILL NEED TO PAY FULL PRICE. MS. SIGMAN SHOULD BE FIRED! SHE IS PITIFUL AS ANY TYPE OF ADMINISTRATOR AND I AM DISGUSTED! DO NOT PAY WENDEL DENTAL A DIME AS THEY WILL RUIN YOUR MOUTH AND WILL CHARGE YOU FOR IT. EXAMPLE IS - THEY CHARGE AND OVER CHARGE AND SEND DR. MIRCHELS FAMILY TO COLLECTIONS WHEN MRS. MIRCHEL HAS BEEN LEFT WITH THE TASK OF RAISING FOUR CHILDREN ALONE. WHAT TYPE OF PRACTICE IS THIS! THEY SHOULD LOSE THERE LICENSE AS A BUSINESS. DISGUSTED, RIPPED OFF OLD PATIENT AND A DEAR FAMILY OF THE FRIENDS. I ALSO VERIFIED THAT THE OTHER MIRCHELS IN THE FAMILY WERE NOT CONTACTED AND THEY VERIFIED THEY WERE AWARE THAT DR. MIRCHEL WAS LEAVING WENDEL DENTAL DUE TO HIS DISGUST IN THERE UNETHICAL PRACTICES. MY RECOMMENDATION - THERE ARE MANY OTHER GREAT DENTISTS IN VANCOUVER, TRY CUMMINGS, ALDER, SANAI AND OF COURSE CROFT AND WONG AND DUFORT AS SPECIALISTS. RECOVERING FROM WENDEL DENTAL ABUSE MYSELF. I started going to Wendel because the Mirchel's attend the same church as I do. After reading the reviews from the family on the internet and then visiting with them I must agree with them by saying Wendel Dental is a complete RIP OFF. I also will say that Mrs. Mirchel was correct in saying that Dr. Mirchel did not like working there. He was abused in many ways which likely lead to his early demise. He was actually, through me, in the process of beginning the financial research and application process of opening his own practice and the reasons were many but in the long run it was because of the non ethical practices Wendel obviously continues to use. Dr. Mirchel was ethical and loved his patients. He is the only dentist there that really cared about his patients. Pros: My Teeth are Destroyed! Cons: Worthless Dental Practice Since the Demise of Dr. Mirchel more

Mirchel LOVED Wendel Dental 12/8/2008

Dr. Mirchel LOVED working at Wendel Dental. Anyone that knew him was well aware of this. We prefer to let him rest in peace. more

DR MIRCHEL HAS PASSED AND THE MIRCHEL FAMILY DOES NOT RECOMMEND YOU GO TO WENDEL 12/3/2008

Dr. Frank A.C. Mirchel passed away on January 10, 2004 and has NO ASSOCIATION with Wendel Family Dental...As his son I am stating our family does not recommend you go to Wendel Dental as my father was miserable there....they abused him and basically worked him to death...My dad was awesome and our family does recommend you go to Dr. Gene Sakai in Salmon Creek...he has the gentle touch my Dad did and it is not a factory like Wendel Dental is....tell Dr. Sakai the Mirchel's sent you and you'll be taken care of... more

Negative Feedback 10/21/2008

We've attempted to contact the Mirchel children and asked them if they have any concerns about treatment, or otherwise, to contact us directly and they have not done so. The Mirchel family (his mother and siblings) are very loving and caring people and have nothing but wonderful things to say about everything that Wendel Family Dental Centre did for their son and brother. It's a shame that he cannot rest in peace. more

Great service 5/15/2008

The staff was very understanding and compassionate. I was offerred IV sedation to make my experience less stressful on me. It was the best experience! The staff worked really hard to get me in around my work schedule. Like my physician's office, you can choose the dentist you want to see, or get in same day with another dentist. I recommend this office to all of my friends. I had no problem with the cost of my appointments and was informed of all fees before I made the appointment. They even checked with my insurance to see what I would have to pay out of pocket- which I was told would only be an estimate since my insurance will only give them estimates. My last dentist did not do this and I had to call my insurance myself- which was a long phone call. Pros: open early and late and they give quotes so there are no surprises. Someone on-call 24 hours- not an answering service! Cons: I don't see any more

a great experience! 5/14/2008

My daughter is terrified of the dentist. When we went to have treatment with Dr. Ganji, he was impressive with her, very understanding with her and comforted her when she was scared, the assistant was great as well, she had her treatment done with no problems, and said she has no problem going to the dentist, Wendel Family Dental Centre took away her fear and my fear of bringing her. I also have has wonderful experiences with Wendel Dental, and I have been a patient here for 20 years, and in my opinion all of the dentists and staff have different area's of strength, and I would have no problem seeing any of them. Pros: great staff, very friendly! Cons: none to report more

The Best! 5/13/2008

I'm not sure why these other two people did not have a good experieince or if there is more to their stories, but I have always received wonderful service at Wendel Family Dental Centre. They always give me an estimate of treatment, which most offices do not give. I never have any problem communicating with the staff. In fact, they are always very pleasant and helpful. Additonally, their dentists have always been experieinced and the care I have received has been great. I highly recommend them. more

Watch your wallet 3/5/2008

Worse experience at all. Don't rely on their so-called estimate at all, they give you one number, and then turn their back and charge you another, claiming that you sign the form in the first day, you are responsible for all charges even they are different from what the estimate says. Poor work, I did a root canal in another dentist needed just another hour. Here, it took them two painfully hours which seemed no end of it. They are so bad that I just randomly selected another dentist in the area after the first appointment, believe me, another one else is better than Wendel! Cons: greedy business, terrible dental work more

Unethical and money hungry dental office 12/20/2007

While i was at this dentist, they were kind to me in person. However, be wary of what you allow to happen in the exam room. They disregard the knowledge of what insurance companies typically cover. The staff failed to check my dental history. They did a complete set of xrays on my mouth that i had done recently by my last dentist, without asking or checking with me. I was never given the option to refuse a full mouth xray exam. This totaled 96 dollars that they would have known would not be covered if they had done good patient care. But, alas, why should they care? They know that when the insurance company denied the claim they can just bill the patient for all the money. I was submitted to radiation exposure i did not need. When i called to talk to their office, they said, oh well, it's not our job to check if you have had xrays. I disagree. My past dental records have a great deal to do with testing and care given to me. And i am greatly bothered that i was exposed to radiation that was unnecessary. The dentist did seem very skilled, and i liked him tremendously, but if you go to them realize you may end up paying for more than you expect. Pros: friendly in person, skilled staff Cons: unethical, disregard of dental history, disregard of costs more

If you have state medical don't visit 10/8/2006

I was treated like a second class citizen. I was informed that if I needed a crown that my STATE INSURANCE would not cover it, this all being before she looked in my mouth. Procedure was done incorrectly. I made an appointment to come in and get it fixed. I waited in the dr's chair for an hour before she came and informed me that I would have to make another appt to get it fixed. They put me out over a week and a half. Never offered any pain medication. When I called to complain about treatment, I was sent a certified letter to let me know that I could no longer be seen by them. WOULD NEVER RECCOMEND TREATMENT FROM ANYONE AT THEIR OFFICE. more

Kind & thorough 6/30/2006

When our longtime favorite family dentist left the area, Dr. Shillinger stepped into her place. He is a great dentist - same kind & friendly approach as our beloved Dr. Winston. Dr. Shillinger is also very thorough in asking us questions, making sure our needs are met, and offers sound recommendations for practices. Our kids (7 & 6) think he's nice and approachable. He has made our transition to the new office quite painless. Pros: comfortable, good reading material (finally!), great people Cons: hard to get in and out of parking lot more

Great Experience! 7/2/2005

I have always been scared of the dentist. Dr. Shillinger was very gentle and meticulous with his work. The work I had done was nearly painless and he made me very comfortable. more
